Ohio Alert: Support SCR-15- Help Ohio Prosper, Say No to Cap and Trade
- Email Your State Representatives

I am writing to request your support of SCR-15.

The "Cap-and-Trade" bill, HR 2454, recently passed in the United States House of Representatives and currently pending in the United States Senate, is really nothing more than a thinly disguised energy tax that will hit every single American. And the "Waxman-Markey" proposal would unfairly target states, like Ohio, that rely on coal for electricity. Many utility companies would likely switch to other fuel sources. For Ohio this could mean a loss of 86 thousand jobs just a few years from now. If those jobs were lost today it would increase Ohio's unemployment rate from 9.7 percent to 11.1 percent. Energy companies just pass the costs of these draconian regulations through to the consumer in the form of huge price increases. Your constituents will ultimately have to pay more for electricity. An average family could pay an additional $1,500 a year for energy. That's 4.8 percent of Ohio's per capita disposable income.

This current economic crisis is no time for Congress to consider both raising prices on hard-working Americans AND costing them jobs.

Please support SCR-15 to urge the Congress of the United States to refuse to enact cap and trade legislation.

By a final vote of 219-212, HR 2454, the Cap-and-Tax scheme, has passed the US House. The fight moves to the US Senate now, where the bill faces an uncertain future.

Since this is such a high priority issue for the Obama administration, it's amazing that the margin was this thin. Incredibly, 44 Democrats voted against the legislation.

This proposal, all 1,201 pages of it, has been rightly dubbed the "Cap-and-Tax" plan. Once again, Congress will impose a hidden tax on all of us while attempting to appear "proactive."

State Senator Chris Widener (http://www.senate.state.oh.us/senators/bios/sd_10.html) has introduced SCR-15 (http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/res.cfm?ID=128_SCR_15) in the Ohio Senate "To urge the Congress of the United States to refuse to enact cap and trade legislation that would negatively impact Americans through the elimination of jobs and by increasing the costs of goods and services and instead enact legislation that encourages states to establish and develop their own renewable energy portfolio standards."

Please contact your State Senator and urge their support of SCR-15 (http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/res.cfm?ID=128_SCR_15).

Is it bad to want things to get even worse so people will wake up? I kinda want the "Cap and Trade" to cause notable damage and hurt Obama and Congress.

A resolution encouraging the U.S. Congress to reject cap and trade? Please, that's just pissing in the wind.

May as well pass a resolution asking congress to obey the constitution...... A kind word and a gun will do a hell of a lot more than a kind word alone.

This resolution has no gun in it.

Yes it is bad and stupid. That is like being in a war and wishing that your army would really get the shit kicked out of it so they will fight harder next time.

Every liberty we lose will be years to regain if we ever regain them. You think if things get bad enough people will wake up - just like the Germans did under Hitler? (Yes there were a few that did, but the general populace never "woke up", and I don't think Americans ever will either.

Hoping that bad laws pass is a bad strategy for lovers of freedom. <IMHO>

Just building a foundation for a bill with teeth. At least we're taking action, if you have a better idea, lets see it.

I agree...it's a bill to send a letter to Congress. Anyone can do that on their own.

For it to have teeth, the state should enact a bill stating that no power company in their state providing power to their residents should be subjected to this federal law, and any federal agent trying to convict anyone in the state of not abiding by Cap and Trade will be summarilly arrested.
