I take it that 'certain' means those without money or political connections?

Why is that the quality of a city's politicians is adverse to the quality of a city's pizza?

It's time for patriots in that district of Illinois to rise up and unseat him in 2010. I might even look into that a bit more.

Here's where Mark is. If you live there, campaign tough against him!

I've recently discovered some very disturbing trends in the drug war, the rising prison population and liberalization of prison labor laws.

Many corporations are getting VERY cheap labor through our prisons. It is a booming industry with its own trade shows and conferences. There is definitely a lot of profit motive for big business to be tough on drugs.

I discussed it here: YouTube - Newsroom for June 7 - Gitmo update, prison labor, global warming, auto bankruptcies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bgam-jgprDs)

Makes me wonder if a lot of our anti-drug war efforts are not being directed at the right place - ie public opinion. There is a lot of evidence that war's been won. We need to be digging into corporate interests propping up the drug war.

One of my best friends lives in Mark Kirk's district, but he's nowhere near old enough to run for Congress. He took the 2008 Presidential Candidate selector and Kucinich was his top score. However, he does have a very high opinion of Ron Paul and even sent a message out on Myspace to vote for him in the primaries.

If a good candidate is fielded against Kirk, I could ask my friend to maybe donate, spread the word, campaign, etc. but don't place TOO much faith in it happening.

P.S. Mark Kirk also introduced a Real I.D. type bill last Congress that involved Social Security I.D. cards. Fucking incredible.

This is awesome, but it never ceases to amaze me that while they have introduced this bill to get us closer to ending the failed war on drugs, cigarettes are near cost-prohibitive. :(

Just days after Massachusetts Democrat Rep. Barney Frank, along with 13 cosponsors, reintroduced HR 2835, the Medical Marijuana Patient Protection Act of 2009 in Congress, Republican Rep. Mark Kirk (Illinois) has called for federal legislation to sentence certain first-time marijuana offenders to up to 25 years in prison.

We need to call/write this guy and let him know how we feel about this.
