Is the official campaign setting new targets as current ones are being met? Howard Dean, internet darling of 2004, raised an amazing $50 million so I see no reason we can't do the same.

I wish for this, the last week of the quarter, they would put up a running total of what we're bringing in over the week.

Good grief, the Quill is up to 1,061 right now, over halfway to be refilled.

I think it was originally filled a little before noon on Friday?

That's pretty amazing that in a little over 48 hours it is already way past halfway filled again on a secondary drive.

Great work everyone!!

A major difference between Dean '04 and Paul '08 that no one talks about is that Dean was the darling of the media and got barrel after barrel of fawning, uncritical, front-page coverage. I have many friends and acquaintances in DC who are journalists and I recall the passion and enthusiasm they had for him, and it showed in their coverage. Wasn't around for Kennedy but it was the same kind of passion the left likely had for JFK in 1960.

Ron Paul doesn't have that, quite the opposite. The media ignore him, ridicule him, downplay his successes. It affects fundraising.

We're going to win, but we're going to do it fighting the MSM, not basking in the glow of their positive coverage. And the reason for the discrepancy in how they felt about Dean and how they feel about Paul is personal: they all moved to DC because they believe in the power of big government to positively influence people's lives, and a Howard Dean reinforces that belief, while a Ron Paul forcefully counters it. It's intensely personal and psychological.

I agree. People - stop comparing Dean to Paul. It just doesn't work. Dean was a media darling, and Paul is not. That's why our fundraising numbers are so behind Dean's.

I think that this "fill the quill" drive is a good motivator and measurer of donations, I think we should keep it going even after the end of this week. Every time I see it rise a dozen or so in between visits I feel empowered to donate more.

P.S. - At this rate we'll be close to filling it again before the day is over.

Law school? I graduated a few years back, and I remember hating almost every Supreme Court decision I read and loving almost every Scalia dissent (Scalia's scathing dissents were one of the things that kept me sane in law school).

Pathetic. I had #1230 over 2 and half hours ago and now we're only at 1286! This better be filled up again by this time tomorrow or Dr. Paul won't become President and you all will be forced to live under a facist regime! Who will save you then? Not me, that's for sure. They'll take your liberties away left and right and you'll regret not donating that extra $100. They'll force you to carry around a national ID card with an RFID chip inside it. Then you'll look back and say, "I sure wish I had donated to Congressman Paul back when I had the chance. Who was that wise man who told me that I'd regret it? Oh yeah, Ron Paul Fan. I must remember to thank him." Only I won't be here to thank because the government will take me away first and brainwash me because I did donate for liberty. I did donate for freedom. I did donate for Ron Paul. You and I have the ability and the dignity and the right to make our own decisions and determine our own destiny. We can preserve for our children this the last best hope of man on Earth, or we'll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.

Good! And thank you for your donation! At least some people are doing their part around here. You can imagine my dissapointment when I woke up this morning. Lo and behold, we're not even at 1400 yet! And don't be scared. It is incumbent on this great forum to remain confident, if it wishes to remain free. We need not be ignorant of real threats to our safety, against which we must remain vigilant. We need only to banish to the ash heap of history the notion that we ought to be ruled by our fears and those who use them to enhance their own power. I think if Dr. Paul was here right now he'd say something very similiar. So let's keep filling the quill in the name of Ron Paul and get this baby filled by 3:00 PM. I think we can do it, but we need the help of all of you. Dr. Paul needs your help! Our American way is being attacked and only one man can save it. For Liberty!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 and a half hours left to meet our goal of filling it by 3:00 my friends. We need 333 more donations by then. I think we can do it if we put the future of our country ahead of our own greed for once. Time is running out. We're losing our freedom every second that goes by that there isn't a donation. I don't have faith in many things in life, but I do have faith in Ron Paul and this campaign. Don't let me down. And more importantly, don't let Dr. Paul down. He is counting on your donation to promote the only special interest that we should be working for that would solve just about all of our problems, and that is our liberty.

The quill is gone. In its place is a very depressing thermometer. I can't tell how much time that represents, but it looks depressing. Can anyone tell? Unless it is right, and it says that it started a few hours ago, in that case, why did they start then? and I can't really believe the amount.

If anyone figures it out, let me know.

It's not depressing, it's a new drive! don't worry, I'm 100% that we raised way more than that with "fill the quill".:D

Thats most definatly not the fill the Quill Money ...

~3200 x 25 = 80 000

and thats not even counting the countless donations over 25 dollars!

So dont worry .. this is just another drive as already said :)

Our campaign is at a tipping point - one that will determine if Ron Paul wins the Republican nomination for president.

Last quarter, you helped raise more money for the Ron Paul 2008 campaign than the political pundits thought possible. I assure you that we will surpass our total from last quarter. The question is by how much.

We have one week left. Our goal is to raise $500,000 online by September 30th. That boost will give us the best fundraising quarter yet, and it will show that our campaign is getting stronger by the day.

$500,000 online in seven days will be a challenge. But I know we can make it.

If you have donated already, will you donate the same amount again? That will help immensely. Also, will you ask three friends to match your donation? That will quickly get us over the top by September 30th.

Check the graphic on our website http://www.ronpaul2008.com to track our progress. You may donate directly by clicking here: https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate

a $100 donation on a 2-inch thermometer ranging from 0-$500,000 would be impossible to show. They could program in $10,000 increments, and the number itself could update live.

not too hard.
