CNN just covered the TSA incident -detained CFL worker from a few months ago.

DUH???????? Why did it take so long?

The coverage keyed in on the detainee being questioned by TSA and how he asked them if he was required to answer their question; on how he taped it all with his iphone: and mentioned the $4700 he was carrying and the pocket copy of the Constitution he was carrying. Also they pointed out the threats made to the detainee. And that it is NOT illegal to carry that amount of cash.

Lastly it said the TSA agent was disciplined. Jack Cafferty did not understand why the TSA was not fired. Cafferty also said he would have been a victim of the TSA in such an instance since he had no iphone.

This incident indicates exactly WHY ALL states need to allow covert recording of two party conversations. Anything less simply protects liars and is in reality unenforceable anyway due to the ever shrinking size of technology. In my experiences in court, I have not ever, EVER heard truth from a lying cop or his buddy... EVER. * If a person's conversation is within range of a recording device and the parties physically present, then ALL conversation should be legally recordable whether approved or not. Thankfully, the TSA was finally caught.

* I'm NOT saying cops lie ALL of the time, just the critical parts that protect their careers or adversely affect a trial.

The reason it came up now is the lawsuit was just filed by the ACLU on his behalf.

That was some good advert time for the CFL. Good for him. Hopefully this will be a good case for liberty.

The ACLU is filing the suit with the help of Campaign For Liberty. There have been times when I've not been impressed at all with the ACLU, but this is one instance when I hope they really press hard and give the TSA a drubbing....

Most of all, kudos to Steve Bierfeldt for having the guts to stand up to the TSA thugs and the brains to get it all on audio!

I was curious what iPhone app he was using to record that but with the new 3.0 update there is a recording app included. But my next question is when did he have a chance to start the recording? You can't go through the screening with it in your pocket and if they escorted him to an interrogation room I don't think they would have given him his stuff back yet. It seems to me they would want to look at your stuff separately while he was be interrogated.

Cafferty gets it together sometimes.

Cafferty is the type of grumpy old man I'd love to have a beer with...

Who can forget this? (amidst the 24/7 MSM coverage of Anna Nicole Smith's death):

Small update. I have now seen this covered on MSNBC, FOX, and CNN. It has been covered more than once--several times, partly for its humorous nature as in one never knows who is listening and watching. TSA beware. :D

The ACLU lawsuit was a great idea!!!!! :)

I noticed it popping up on Google news a lot in the last couple days as well. It's like someone snapped their fingers and said "Give it coverage now, it fits our plans" :p

I'm sure the various media companies didn't only just discover this.

News is supposed to be new. If it's old, then how can you call it news? Perhaps we should call it 'olds'. GM isn't using that any more, so why not?

So, unless I'm mistaken, that would make Turner's ugly baby the Cable Olds Network. I personally think that makes for a very, very accurate acronym... ;)

I thought News stood for North, East, West, South... as in information from all around. Not "new" per se... might be wrong though.
