Ethics have to be absolute, by nature, or else they just become subjective opinions about how a person and/or group should behave. In that case, they are non-obligatory, and they cease to be ethics.

Ethics are relative to the Light -

If much has been given much is expected.

How can something philosophical be absolute?

I think ethics are absolute, but that humans will never be able to fully understand them. In that situation, it becomes relative in that we cannot become too dogmatic but absolute in that there is a certain breaking point where man must stand and distinguish right from wrong.

Both. The general rules are absolute, but the application of them is relative depending on the surroundings. Example: killing is wrong, but not in self defense.
