What's the most Libertarian University in America? Specifically California or Illinois :) Most colleges seem to preach either neoconservatism or socialist values. :[

I don't know, but I'd like to know too. I'm taking a class in international relations at the moment, and it seems like the curriculum could have been written by the CFR. It's practically a nonstop assault on the notion of national sovereignty. I feel like a spy or something in the class. ;)

And half my classmates are total commies/socialists. It's kind of depressing.

Just off the top of my head I would say the University of Chicago.

You might check out George Mason University, in Virginia. The free market economist and columnist Walter Williams teaches economics there, and has said good things about it.

Also the home of the Institute for Humane Studies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institute_for_Humane_Studies). Met some of the kids in the IHS after a day at a Cato University seminar in D.C. some time back. Really great, very friendly people.

In high school I wanted to go to St. John's College so badly. There are two campuses, and it's the coolest college ever! The Great Books program is so freaking awesome.
I just wish I had been able to go there instead of high school, which only stifled my mind/spirit and bred discontent. I wanted so badly to drop out of high school, get my GED (which I could have easily done), and go to St. John's (the Santa Fe campus always appealed to me).
But anyway, if you really want a good education straight from the masters themselves (the authors of some of the greatest books of Western civilization) then check out St. John's.
Here's the website: http://www.stjohnscollege.edu/

Virginia in general seems to at least have fairly large libertarian populations on the campuses. Prof. Lark teaches at UVA, and someone else mentioned GMU.

Hillsdale College doesn't accept federal funding and considered somewhat libertarian I believe.

In California? Not possible for any of the public universities under the current marxist conditions. Most of the private unis are either religious/neocon or old guard where both marxism and neoconservatism are represented side by side, such as USC.

Everyone's suggestions are very very interesting...keep 'em coming! I've got a libertarian-leaning high schooler who'll need college in a couple of years so I'm very interested as well.
