Amen. But apparently he's for "welfare for the poor", whatever that means.

Someone get Jesse a copy of "Meltdown".

When you argue about not giving foriegn aide a good answer is.

What is the best way to destroy farming in a country?
Flood the market with cheap or free food.

Cody's co-host needs to study up on what foreign aid does in countries. Apparently, he thinks it's all beneficial and doesn't empower dictatorial leaders.

His complete ignorance on economic matters is astounding.

Or flooding them with weapons to keep their corrupt regimes in power.

He makes one of the arguments Ron Paul makes. Use foreign aid and money spent on our empire at home. Even Ron Paul has said one of the concessions he is willing to make is increased domestic spending if there is an equal reduction in military spending.

Too bad Ventura is still primarily an uninformed dolt.

Well Ron Paul doesn't want to increase domestic spending, he just wants to continue to support those who have become dependent on the system. As we become more prosperous with lower income taxes and increased savings, a lot of those people will be motivated to make a living for themselves because they won't get robbed of half their wealth each year. Eventually the welfare system would disintegrate, or turn into what it's initial purpose was which is to help those who are unable to help themselves because they are disabled or otherwise.

This guy is an intellectual lightweight. It is disappointing to me to see so many idolize him when I consider him an idiot.

prior to Treasury, Geithner was president of the NY Fed - kind of overseeing Wall Street and the "money center" banks. i've posted parts of a speech where he extols the virtues of credit derivatives while serving in this role.:o

edit: President of NY Fed is kind of like 2nd in command and also has a permanent vote on FOMC

Geitner was Chairman of the New York branch of the Fed...very high post because the NY Fed is all that matters

Ron Paul ran on a similar platform. He said that we've raised 3 generations of people who depend on government and we can't just yank the benefits away instantly.

Unfortunately the media reported it much differently.

Ventura's track record doesn't impress me though. Fiscal conservative can't mesh with social liberal.

Well, I think it can. However, you would still have to cut some programs to achieve the first so even if you maintained a majority of social programs the amount of stuff cut would still enrage many statists.

Hey lets not get too carried away. I'm pretty sure Ventura would have known what the Bush Doctrine was.

How about ending the income tax Jesse?

Ventura is turning into a libertarian FRAUD, he's much more aligned with the socialists.

Ventura isn't a libertarian fraud. He is just uneducated in economic manners. He's a honest guy, but America doesn't just need a honest and forthright guy right now, America needs a SMART and honest guy.

Come 2012, better leaders need to take center stage. America can do better than Jesse. But I still think he is independent and won't fall victim to special interests.

It's strange to me that Ventura is so much in line with Ron Paul's goals and yet this forum hates his guts. I understand now why in so many interviews he wouldn't want to run for higher office.

I think Spike is right though. I've heard even Ventura himself say he isn't an economics expert and does rely on keeping experts on his staff who have knowledge of the many details of economics. The important thing though is not letting "Experts" tell the governor what to do. It's a team effort. The facts are laid down on the table and the governor makes the final say on those facts.

Sometimes I do think an honest person who has more Wisdom then just raw knowledge can lead well. Book smarts helps but that isn't everything.

Because a socialist would advocate taking up arms against the government if they got out of hand?
