Self-described libertarian pundit Bill Maher ripped Barak Obama during a lengthy monologue on his HBO program Friday night, accusing the president of being obsessed with appearing on TV and failing to come through on pre-election promises.

It seems to me all these socialists who like to call themselves libertarians are those who just don't want to call themselves Democrats and haven't heard of the Green Party.

Iraq war cheeleader Bill O Rielly had recently claimed to be "libertarian" also LOL It seems like the new trend among neocons , torture in chief Cheney could be coming out soon.

Is Maher suddenly pissed at Obama because Obama is talking up a mini storm against Israeli settlements building on arab land? How did this lover's quarrel come about suddenly.

He thinks B.O. isn't doing enough?????? Huh? I noticed 'thrill-up-my-leg' Chris Mathews sitting next to him. Wonder what he thought of this diatribe.

Tough to argue with BM's analysis, but as always its watered down. But he's only a entertainer right? Well that title depends on how many realworld views and opinions he shapes and/or reinforces. My guess would be that he has more followers than we would like to believe.

I think the most important part in that episode of "Real Time" was when Chris Matthews said, in reference to the increase in right-wing violence, "The left isn't doing these things. We won."

Ranters sound good but usually have major gaps in reason. For example: BM doesn’t want the socialism of bailouts but does want the socialism of socialized medicine. Too bad someone with such great delivery, who claims to be a libertarian, has such poor consistency.

He was against Iraq war, then was for it for short while, then against it in the end again BUT he is always for US sending arms and dollars to Israel to bomb and occupy arabs. He's a hypocrite and a bundle of contradictions but at times he is funny.

He’s sometimes Statist, sometimes anti-state. He’s certainly against drug prohibition (anti-state). His movie Religulous was maybe not actually “ant-state”, but was sure ant-establishment.

Being against drug prohibition doesn't necessarily make one anti-state. I don't know for sure but I'd be willing to bet that Maher fits in with the "regulate and tax" (heavily) crowd.
