Wow,

Ron absolutely killed on that topic.

If 2012 is to be a referendum on Obama's economic record and his new health care plan, I can scarcely think of a person more qualified to counter him...and I'm a person that typically thinks that Ron is too old for a '12 run.

Ron has got his shtick down pat. Everyone should study this video for probably the most concise argument ever against third party payers.

He was right about the economy, hopefully this time they'll listen to him. But B.O. is quoted to have said about his health care plan: " The stars are aligned."

Great interview, I wish she had asked him about HR1207 though.

He nailed the Canadian Healthcare system. We have line ups and shortages - rationing is next. Everyone keeps pleading for more money and more government but it seems to make it worse.

Healthcare in Canada is one of the best cases to display how socialism appears to work initially then decays into a wealth destroying vortex of excuses and finger pointing. Yes we can walk in and get help no questions asked, but so would we if it were a free market endeavor - at least then I could afford it and be rewarded by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Personally I have not used the healthcare system myself in many years and if I were able to bank these savings then I would be well prepared for when I needed to pay.

There are many physicians which attend my church, and one of the things they talk about which causes health care to get expensive is what Dr. Paul touched on--the fear of litigation. Because of so many lawsuits happening in the medical industry (some from people who just want money), physicians have to sometimes run tests and procedures on their patients to ensure the patient's condition was assessed totally in the event it gets worse down the line or death occurs. It's not like physicians are trying to make money anywhere they can. They just have to watch their backs from legal suits by covering all bases, even if it's something as small as a cough.

By the way, it was a great interview, as usual. Of course Congressman Paul would knock it out of the park when they're playing on his own turf.

Why is there an over production of lawyers? I would like to know myself... seems an over supply can maybe cause excessive litigation? kind of like the saying ; 'when the only thing you have is a hammer then everything looks like a nail' - When you have far to many lawyers than every situation looks like a case.

Yeah, my relatives live in Canada. It's funny, the medical service is TERRIBLE and they tell us of long waits, lack of proper diagnosis etc. that I hardly hear of in the US. But they still say socialized medicine is awesome and don't we wish we were Canadian....

Brilliant. Ron Paul shows real prowess in his microeconomic understanding in this interview, in addition to the usual macro/monetary theory discussion he is often asked about. Also his experience as a physician adds to his credibility here, too.

Can somebody explain to me exactly what is meant by "single-payer" healthcare? Is that different from taxpayer-funded healthcare, or is it just a convenient euphemism?

Single payer= The government

So basically, single payer is 305 million payers. Actually scratch that, less than half of the population pays taxes.

Exactly!!! And the legislature's solution: lets's make more laws so lawyers will have more possible cases for litigation!!
