Why does your nominee deserve a CNN Hero award in this category?

Congressman Dr. Ron Paul has a 10-term record in the U.S. House of Representatives as by far the most staunch defender of the philosophy of liberty and the U.S. Constitution. He votes against any bill that exceeds the authority of the congress as laid out in the Constitution. Special interests do not even bother going to his office because he is utterly incorruptible. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, at a time when he was calling for every Republican Congressman to vote the party line against the Democrats, allowed a special "Ron Paul exemption", saying Paul can vote as he wishes, because Ron Paul votes as he knows is right no matter how much pressure he's under.

How have your nominee's efforts made a difference for the better?

Ron Paul has continually fought for the cause of liberty and constitutionally limited government in the U.S. Capitol for 20 years, letting no curtailing of civil rights or constitutionally illegitimate act pass without reminding his fellow representatives of their obligation to follow the Constitution and a vote, many times alone, of "No," earning him the nickname "Dr. No."

Is there a specific incident or turning point that motivated your
nominee to take action?

When President Nixon abolished the Gold Standard, removing any backing of an actual, valuable commodity from the U.S. dollar, Dr. Ron Paul became interested enough in economics and politics to begin a political career that has benefited America incalculably and will do so even more when he is elected President of the United States in 2008.

Is there anything else that makes your nominee exceptional or unique?

Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, before proudly serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968, where he began his medical practice in Brazoria County. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies. He and Carol, who reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, are the proud parents of five children and have 17 grandchildren.

Done and broadcast

He has humbly and courageously carried the torch of
Liberty for decades.

Dr Paul represents a hope for America that is
igniting tens of thousands of average patriotic
people to stand up for what is right and true. He
has inspired young people to have an interest in
politics that is unprecedented in my lifetime. The
diversity of his support is uniting people who
differ in many ways and that is one of the greatest
under-reported stories of this election

Yes, corrupt fiscal policy. Meddling in Nixon's era
was the turning point.

He is an honest politician with decades of
experiance who is committed to securing and
protecting all that is good about America.

My answers:

Why does your nominee deserve a CNN Hero award in this category?

99% of politicians care only about getting elected, and change their views accordingly. Ron Paul first ran for Congress in the Seventies out of concern for the changes in monetary fidelity, and has never changed his positions regardless of the whims of populism. Didn't matter to him whether he got elected as long as he made his point about the need to adhere to the Constitution.

How have your nominee's efforts made a difference for the better?

Ron Paul, monikered "Dr. No" in Congress, has been a conscience to the elected body and the nation as a whole. If ever one wondered what the Constitution had to say about any particular bill, one needed only to look to Ron Paul's vote. Ron Paul is the Supreme Court boiled down to one man, minus the "living, breathing document" and precedent obfuscations.

Is there a specific incident or turning point that motivated your
nominee to take action?

A very busy OB/GYN, Ron Paul decided he must run for Congress "to get a few things off [his] chest" when Nixon broke the bond between the dollar and the price of gold, creating a monster in the Federal Reserve, allowing it to print money for the benefit of a growing government on the backs of a lower class defenseless against inflation.

Is there anything else that makes your nominee exceptional or unique?

Ron Paul is unique in his selfless concern that the nation adhere to the Constitution and the rule of law, caring not whether such concern gets him elected, but more that Americans sit up and take notice of how their liberties are being siphoned off in the name of false security.
