Or such tensions are normal in US Congressional hearings?

Darrell E. Issa (pronounced Eye-suh) (born November 1, 1953) is an American politician and formerly a CEO of a consumer electronics company. Since 2001, he has been a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, representing the 49th congressional district of California.
Darrell Issa's mother is of Bohemian German descent[citation needed] and his father is of Lebanese descent[citation needed]. Issa was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in a Jewish[citation needed] neighborhood and worked for a rabbi[citation needed]. Issa enlisted in the Army during his senior year of high school, where he served as a bomb disposal technician.
Middle East involvement
As one of the few Arab-Americans in Congress, Issa has had a significant but sometimes controversial role in U.S. peace initiatives in the Middle East. He traveled to Lebanon and Syria in an effort to negotiate the end of the Syrian occupation of Lebanon. In 2003, he appeared at a Washington rally by Iranian groups protesting against the Islamic government in Iran.[7]
Activist Debbie Schlussel wrote a column calling him "Jihad Darrell", charging that he sympathized with Hezbollah despite its being listed by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization[8]. Issa denied this; he later speculated that Schlussel's column might have inspired an aborted Jewish Defense League plot in 2001 to bomb his district office in San Clemente[9]. JDL leader Irving Rubin was arrested along with Earl Krugel in connection with the plot, which reportedly had focused on other targets before shifting to Issa's office.[10]

Henry Arnold Waxman (born September 12, 1939 in Los Angeles, California) is an American politician. He has represented California's 30th congressional district (map) in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1975. Waxman, a Democrat, is considered to be one of the most influential liberal members of Congress. His district includes much of the western part of the city of Los Angeles, as well as West Hollywood, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. Before his election to Congress, he served six years in the California State Assembly.
Jewish identity and politics
Waxman is proud of his "strong Jewish identity" and has drawn political conclusions from his exploration of the religion.[9] "Judaism is about acting and doing the right thing, not simply believing in it or mindlessly following ritual," he said in a speech presented by the University of Southern California's Casden Institute for the Study of the Jewish Role in American Life.[9] Waxman said he applies Jewish ethical values to his congressional service. He further said that the "Jewish values" of "human rights, social justice, and equal opportunities ... are synonymous with American values," and that such values "are in my opinion closer to a Democratic position." Saying it suffers from "a culture of corruption" and "has become obsessed with secrecy," he accused the American government of having abandoned these values. "(The) Republican leadership ignores presidential rules and norms and has no consideration for custom," he said.
