First Cherry, now this guy. So far two people are challenging Ron Paul, both in the republican party, but this time around, unlike in 2008 with Peden, none of the two current losers seems credible or a threat. While Peden was a mayor of a town in Paul's district and running in a year where if Paul was going to be defeated, it would have been then (with the neocon outrage and 2008 presidential race still fresh on peoples' minds)....these two have nothing (indeed, there is NOTHING anywhere about this Gay guy on the internet.) I only found about Gay a week ago when I saw the FEC report on the 14th district of Texas' 2010 race.
If no one else comes along, I'll say Cherry and Gay combine for 25% of the vote in March 2010. And I think Cherry and Gay will combine for less than 100,000 total dollars raised.
To borrow from Reason (http://www.reason.com/blog/show/123341.html), Cherry and Gay are "that saddest breed of political animal: the opportunists who've lost their opportunity."
