The first two paragraphs are a bit telling:
September 22, 2007

The end is nigh. Of the third quarter of 2007, that is! And I need your help to make sure that our campaign gets a big boost. At the end of the second quarter, on August 1, we had more money than McCain, and we got a million dollars worth of free publicity.

This time, we can get 10 million dollars worth, IF we have good results to announce on October 1, and therefore the resources to build for the future.

After all, our ideas have never been needed more. The Federal Reserve is killing our dollar, the war is killing our soldiers, police-state methods are killing our civil liberties, and the income tax and bureaucratic meddling are killing our economy.

But there is hope for America in the ideas of this Revolution. What progress we are making, all across this country, among all groups. The mainstream media may ignore us, but we are winning strawpolls, drawing huge crowds, getting local media, moving up in the regular polls (a lagging indicator, of course), organizing, dominating the internet, and preparing the way for the early caucuses and primaries.

As our opponents begin to falter, and the undecideds grow in strength, this is our time. When people learn about our ideas and our work for them, they join the Revolution. So my job is to make sure they learn!

But I can't do this job alone. I need you. Please, reach out your hand and clasp mine. Our country is at stake, our children's future and ours is in the balance. Make the most generous contribution https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/ you can, and make it soon. Help me go into October with a roar. Help me build this campaign as it must be built.

A 13-year-old said to me the other day, "Dr. Paul, you are the hope of my future." No, I told her, but this Revolution is. Will she grow up in a poorer, more socialist, more militarist, more oppressive country? Or the free country you and I love?

Let's work together with all our strength for the Constitution, for America, for all our people, for freedom, prosperity, and peace. Together, you and I can make a Revolution. Let's do it!

Sincerely,

Ron

Heck yeah! I'm going to cut out a few expensive coffee drinks and eat a lot of cheaper (and healthier) food this week so I can donate double! Worth every penny!

He cannot possibly be hinting that we made ten million dollars. I dare not hope for such numbers.

I had no doubt about that. McCain has shown some strength this quarter however there is no doubt in my mind that his public performance ;ast quarter cost him dearly in the dollar arena. I'm thinking 4-6 million for the Paul campaign and maybe 2 for McCain.

Ron Paul didn't write this, don't think he should put his name on it if he didn't write it.

I think he's saying that we can expect a big boost in media attention (and, thus, in name recognition, and, therefore, in donations) if 3rd quarter totals are good. Obviously, the more money the campaign raises the better the publicity will be (and by better I mean more--I don't expect them to start praising Dr. Paul).
People are much more likely to invest in a safe bet. If people see that a lot of people are donating money to the Ron Paul campaign, those other people will be far more likely/willing to donate, too. At this point it seems like a confidence thing.
The media tried to downplay Dr. Paul--tried to make him seem obsolete by calling him a "long shot" who has no chance of success. There tactic has been somewhat successful--as we all know--but I don't think that they will be able to top those initial attempts to silence him (by downplaying his progress and ignoring him).
Ultimately, most of the corruption in the media is the (direct) result of greed--i.e., money, power, fame, etc. Ratings are probably more important to the corporate media than their anti-Ron Paul agenda. Even if their heart isn't in it, if the RP campaign makes a strong showing at the end of this quarter I really don't think that the corporate media will continue to ignore him like they have been. (And it doesn’t really matter if they’re rude and unfair to him--Dr. Paul can take them all on and come out smelling like a blue ribbon winning rose, while they’ll come out smelling of garbage and shit.
...Of course, I’m just speculating...but it sounds good to me!

I read somewhere that McCain had raised close to 4 million this quarter, with a few weeks to go, but was badly in debt.

I think Ron Paul could outraise him, but I would be surprised if we were much over 5 million.

The real interesting number will be what Romney raised, now that his poll numbers are in the tank.

PLEASE!

Read the sentence people!!! It clearly says their fundraising level in Q2 got the campaign $1mil in FREE media coverage. And that if the Q3 numbers are equally surprising to the MSM, they would receive 10x as value in the coverage as they received for the results of the Q2 numbers.

This absolutely does not indicate they raised $10mil in Q3 any more than they are saying they raised $1mil in Q2.

I do not think anyone was saying that.

Okay, perhaps. *shifty eyes* ... But I proactively told those who were thinking it to stop. *big grin* lol

I thought they were hinting too. They keep raising money. I'm so excited for Oct. 15th. I think it'll bring wonderful news! And yes, meaning "news" both ways.

Definitely they are implying that a good donation dollar could produce $10 million in PR.

Expect the worst, hope for the best. It saves your sanity, and gives you an unanticipated surprise. ;)

If he hit anywhere near $10M, I think I'd jump around the room for a few hours. I'm hoping I get the chance to.

I'm thinking with 10x the expected free advertising, we are looking at 10x the contributions... so easily $23M this quarter! :P

Right, people need to re-gear their expectations.

That big week they kept talking about in California where they raised about $500k with all those fundraisers---well if they had hardcore weeks all quarter and raised $500k per week, that'd be $6.0 million. Yes, I realize the $500k doesn't take into account all the *other* donations they receive that week, but we should all just keep our digits crossed that they outraised their Q2 total.

If they raised more in Q3 than they did in Q2, I will consider that a win and that the campaign continues to grow. It'll definitely gain press coverage if other candidates raise LESS in Q3 than they did in Q2. Contraction versus growth.
