Following the government's recent fascist take over of General Motors, we are now seeing President Obama take steps towards implementing his new health care plan.
Obama is correct when stating that premiums are for too expensive and have doubled since 2000 while hurting wages and employment.
Obama is correct when stating that our healthcare system is a mess and needs reform.
Unfortunately, free markets are unfairly blamed for soaring health care prices just as it has been blamed for our current economic meltdown. Both are untrue.
If Obama wants real health care reform then maybe he should look towards the concept of 'freedom' rather than 'government'.
HMO's did not suddenly come about because of free enterprise demands. They came about because of government intervention and the HMO Act of 1973.
Already the government is involved in nearly two thirds of all health care spending.
When government and third-parties get involved prices are doomed to spiral while quality deteriorates.
A true free market health care system would provide real competition, better quality, and affordable prices for the poor.
It is time to stop relying on government for answers. Freedom really does work, but the bureaucrats on Capitol Hill just wont admit it.
