The registration for James Von Brunn's now-defunct white supremacist website, HolyWesternEmpire.org, was transferred out of Von Brunn's name on June 1, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Transferred to a guy named Steve Reimink.

Reimink's email address begins "steveo1488." Both 14 and 88 are numbers of particular significance in neo-nazi culture. Von Brunn also at time used the number 88 after his name.
A woman named Patti Thompson, who is listed as a coordinator for the Ron Paul campaign in Michigan, shares the phone number that's given for Reimink in the domain records for the site -- and who appears to be his girlfriend.

In the weeks ahead, more of these articles will be written trying to ferret out the details, and possibly find out just what made von Brunn finally snap. If only so that we can prevent it from happening again.
The Southern Poverty Law Center has been watching this man since 1981, and they didn't see it coming. He left no trail on his web-site or blog postings, other than the typical jew-hating rhetoric.
He did, however say this on his web-site:
There are many, many informed patriots such as YOU who know the score! The question then is why don't the INFORMED, such as YOU, take action? If YOU won't take action, if the INFORMED don't take action who the hell will - certainly not the UN-informed.
Moving to Montana is a cop-out. The ENEMY is at the FED, the networks, Wall Street, Congress; at "Holocaust" memorials,, at synagogues, not in some sylvan mountain retreat.

Notice that Holocaust is in quotes.....
There it is, clear as day. But what could have been done about it? Could the FBI had spared one agent to track this man's activities? One wonders.
Anyway, in the interest of gaining knowledge of this event, The WaPo has an article that gives some interesting background on the man.
James W. von Brunn was growing despondent.
John de Nugent, an acquaintance who describes himself as a white separatist, noticed the change when they last spoke two weeks ago.
"He said his Social Security had been cut and that he was barely making it," de Nugent said. "He felt it was the direct result of someone in Washington looking at his Web site."
I am NOT trying to garner any sympathy for this man. In fact, I think it weak that he was taking money (S.S.) from a government he didn't trust and thought was the enemy. But people like him aren't known for their integrity.
So, what about some possible signs?
In one of his e-mail blasts expressing his white supremacist views, the man police sources say shot and killed a security guard yesterday at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum told readers that they shouldn't expect to hear from him again. Von Brunn was shot and critically wounded by museum guards.
He was about to give away his computer, his primary connection to the fringe world of radical racists. He was living hand to mouth.
The e-mails were getting violent in tone: "It's time to kill all the Jews."
"It's TIME to kill all the Jews." The emails were GETTING violent in tone. In other words, there WERE signs that this man was ready to snap.
The meme being pushed on every single news report (except for Shep Smith on FOX), is that von Brunn was a "lone gunman". But what about all the people on his email list? According to his friend John de Nugent (there's that Nugent name again!), von Brunn's tone had changed dramatically.
Most of the White Nation members are at least giving the appearance of condemning the attack. But some are explicitly condoning it or even cheering for his actions. I won't repeat those screeds here. They're well documented in other diaries about this incident.
But I assume, since von Brunn was distributing hate-info, that his email list was probably rather large. But none of these people who "condemned" the attack, came forward to warn anyone about it?
"It's time to kill all the Jews" didn't prick up anyone's ears?
And now onto Mr. Todd Blodgett:
Todd Blodgett, a former Reagan White House aide who later worked with several extremist groups, met regularly with von Brunn in the 1990s and early 2000s.

According to Blodgett and a Washington lawyer who met with FBI and IRS agents who used Blodgett as an informant on white supremacist groups, Blodgett worked as a paid informer for federal investigators early this decade.

Blodgett said that he never filed reports to the FBI specifically about Von Brunn but that "he was probably around when I was wired."
So, authorities had infiltrated these groups. But, apparently, von Brunn didn't raise any red flags in their minds. In a blizzard of hate-speech can authorities really pick out the one person who's going to actually live out their fantasies, and kill innocent people?
This wasn't random violence. This was violence with intent. I have two guesses as to the intent:
1. von Brunn was using the security guards at the Holocaust Museum as executioners in a suicide attempt.
2. von Brunn used this incident to bring attention to his hate-filled world.
Probably both.
Problem is, he will just end up bringing down more pressure on his colleagues and friends. That's why they're trying to disassociate with him PUBLICLY, while privately cheering his efforts.
Look for more of these types of attacks in the future. Personally, I am surprised it's taken so long for the crazies to make their mark.
But think about yourself, and ask how long it took you, a person who WANTED Obama to win, to allow the reality to sink in. Governors are openly talking about secession. Astro-turfers are getting fat white Republicans off their asses to "protest"
They aren't interrupting their beer-binges because of taxes. They're doing it because they now are "forced" to respect the Office of the President of the United States which now houses a black man
I'll close with the final line in that WaPo story:
"The responsible white separatist community condemns this," he said. "It makes us look bad."
You see........in their eyes, the hate, paranoia, and insanity is not enough to make them look bad.
