So to him, a violation of the United States Constitution is "no big deal".

I don't think Barack Obama is a socialist. A real socialist would be doing some good things for us. He is too pragmatic for his own good.

Socialist? No. Socialist-leaning? Yes.

But guess what - so was our last President. This isn't just a Republicans-call-Dems-socialist issue. This isn't exclusive to Obama or Democrats. The Republicans, when they had a majority, supported a socialist-leaning federal government for all of Bush's two terms, it was just under a different label.

Which is why it's so important to support Ron Paul-like candidates in the GOP. Most of the Republicans who use the socialist term are the biggest hypocrites. We need to be louder than them, and better than them.

Do you see what is happening here? Fox created and sustains discussion about Obama being a socialist. On every single morning show, they are always criticizing Obama as well as "leftist" outfits. At the same time, they are placing a limit on the RANGE of analysis. They are also associating ideas and concepts with dangerous behaviors. By doing so, they are creating a "I can't consider this idea, because it leads to violence" type situation.

They are reinforcing a thought crime mentality.

Think about it. To use Sheppard's phrase, this clip is, I promise you, a REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE of the kinds of things that Fox & other media outlets are doing.

Glenn Beck keeps telling everybody Obama is a socialist and then when everybody sends e-mail saying the same thing, they jump on it like it wasn't Glenn Beck starting the ball rolling.

Of course! If they don't make you feel like a rebel for following Beck like a sheep, how can he be effective in controlling you?

I suppose Obama is more of a facist than a socialist, although I don't think there's much (any?) difference.

I suppose Obama is more of a facist than a socialist, although I don't think there's much (any?) difference.

Fascism allows private enterprise/private ownership, but with intervention and some government-business partnerships.

Socialism seeks to directly and totally control or own everything.

Fascism is like a loving, benevolent, but authoritarian father who is the undisputed head of his household.

Socialism is like a drunken abusive control freak who takes his kids paper route money, beats his wife mercilessly, and ultimately impoverishes his family.

I don't know about that.

The Fox Report with Shepard Smith remains the top-rated newscast in cable news and is ranked third in the top programs in U.S. cable news.[3] Shepard Smith tied for second (along with Dan Rather and Peter Jennings) as the most trusted news anchor on both network and cable news in a 2003 TV Guide poll.[4] In addition to anchoring Fox News Channel's flagship news program, Smith also anchors most prime time news presentations provided by Fox News for the Fox television network.

On November 19, 2007, The New York Times reported that Smith had signed a three-year contract giving him between US$7 and 8 million per year. This contract places Smith into the same pay league as anchors Brian Williams of NBC and Charles Gibson of ABC.[5]

I don't know about that.

From the looks of the cable news ratings Beck is now 3rd behind O'Rielly and Hannity. I believe Sheps 7pm slot is at risk from moving Beck to that time slot. Becks ratings are so close to O'Rielly and Hannity he would probably beat both in ratings with a 7pm move.

Shep would not be happy with a move to 5pm. I could care less if he was off the network since he is clearly hostile to liberatarian - conservative type beliefs.

He isn't a socialist.
He's a corporatist. That is something far worse than a socialist. At least a socialist cares about the people. Corporatists only care about themselves and possibly their powerful friends.

Fabulous description of the situation. What is horrifying is that they are leading up to harnessing free speech on the internet as it presents a "terror threat" to society. This as well as various other arm twists that will ensure security:rolleyes:
at the loss of liberty. Those who oppose these "safety" measures will be labeled domestic terrorists, because only patriotic, obedient citizens are to be loose in society.

He's a progressive, no different than Woodrow Wilson and FDR. I don't doubt though he would go alot further if he could. Nationalizing the auto companies, and now moving to regulate people's paychecks in any company is fascist, not socialist. I guess he is a progressive with underlying fascist tendancies.
