A little while ago, Coburn stuck an amendment allowing the use of firearms in national parks into the credit card "reform" bill.

He's at it again. :D Now he put in an amendment to the "hate crimes" bill that would allow interstate concealed carry.

Is this a good thing to do all the time, or just when you know the bill will pass?

I like these gun law repeals, but Sen. Coburn still voted for the bailout. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14196.html

He needs to lose his seat the next time he's up for re-election.

He is running again, by the way. There was some doubt, but he's going for it next year.

He's pretty popular here and has a hell of a war chest. I doubt we could do more than give him a hotfoot in a few debates...

In a way he is helping to make this Hate Crime Pedo protection bill pass. He also stated on the Senate floor he wants to ban Tobacco and all cigarettes. He could have done this with another bill.

tell Senate to reject it the Hate Crimes bill.

I really love that new guns in National Parks bill. Is that in effect now? For example, can I bring a gun to Yosemite or Joshua Tree now?

The Secretary of the Interior shall not promulgate or enforce any regulation that prohibits an individual from possessing a firearm including an assembled or functional firearm in any unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System if--

(1) the individual is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing the firearm; and

(2) the possession of the firearm is in compliance with the law of the State in which the unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System is located.

Signed into law May 22nd. So yeah, as long as you're following California law with respect to firearms, which I'm not familiar with. ;)

In a major strategic shift, Senate Democratic leaders will push the federal hate crimes bill to the floor of the Senate as another amendment to a “must-pass” bill

I don't like the idea of sneaking stuff in. A lib could sneak in gun control as well. I'd prefer everything be out in the open.

the Hate Crime bill is going to be voted on soon

Today, homosexual online newspaper Washington Blade (June 16, 2009) says Sen. Kennedy's hate crimes amendment will go before the Senate for vote either today, June 16, or tomorrow. It will be attached to S. 1023, the Travel Promotion Act, a bill geared to establishing a national travel promotion program.
