I hope the right questions are asked, and the conversation doesn't deteriorate into another one of those socialist/free market type of debate. The banks are the main culprits, libertarians and progressives should be fellow co-patriots.

I will watch it, but I won't tube it. The Daily Show tubes get removed very quickly (usually) and I don't want to risk my YT account being closed. I've already had a few (out of my 325 or so vids) tagged and some have been removed.

Plus as others have said, it will be up after it airs. I'm pretty sure someone will have it up on YT besides me prior to it being available on the CC site. Sorry about that... I know of 3 surefire off limit YT's:

1 - The Daily Show
2 - The Colbert Report
3 - Leno

Most of the others just make claims of ownership, but allow the video to stay up. They just want to be privy to viewing stats.

Enjoy.

The daily show website usually has the video up for streaming once it is over on the west coast... so about 3.5 hours from now.

That was really really good, Peter laid out his argument calmly and clearly and Stewart ate it up. We also got mention of Peter's potential run and some mocking of Dodd. I repeat, really really good.

I'm sooooo pissed! My crappy Motorola DVR didn't record yesterday's Daily Show or tonight's!

I'm calling tomorrow to get this piece of crap replaced with a Moxi box!

At least I can see it online, but I have to watch it on a 21" computer monitor as opposed to a 52" inch TV. Boooo

You could tell Schiff was caught off guard when Jon said "are you running for office or something?". I bet his thoughts were "maybe i should announce now" but it wasn't in his plans to do that so he just said "i might".

The one thing that would have made it perfect.... when Stewart asked him what can be done to correct it, Schiff shoudl ahha replied... vote the bastards out :)

With Mizulo and Company indited... the next chess piece to fall is Senator Chris Dodd. That scumbag should retire, unless Dodd has Diebold on his side.

How that Scumbag is not in Prison, indicates the corruption in the Judicial branch too!

Schiff hit a homerun... Slammed the FEDERAL RESERVE!

I hope the people catch on and call their Senators and representatives for HR 1207

I was reading the daily show forums and most of the time I was shaking my head in utter amazement. Some of those people are so ridiculous. They literally believe that all of our problems were caused by capitalism and that the problem with the bailouts was that they didn't spend enough money bailing out the companies. If you argue against that, they accuse you of being an evil, dirty, republican. Very sad..

That's because the definitions of words have become so convoluted that even people that think they agree with each other on socialism and capitalism don't realize that they are opposed to each other due to their different interpretations of the words they think they agree on.

Concepts and "isms" have to be defined and agreed upon before even engaging in a discussion like that. The meaning of free-market capitalism is a "dirty" word to many people even though they wouldn't be able to properly define its true meaning.

Heh, my aunt was over here not too long ago talking about Cramer on The Daily Show. She started saying how the free-market allowed these businesses to do what they wanted. I quickly rebuted that there was no free-market in America, to which she fluttered her eye lashes at me in an apparent, "Excuse me?!"

Lol. Ah, this is a tough battle. So many years of mis/disinformation about free-market capitalism.

Liberty Rebellion

eg:
Pleeease...this guy is just another one of those "leave the markets alone and everything would have been alright" kind of rich businessmen. Jon needed to remind this guy that the free market failed us big time, because of lack of regulation and proper management by the government.

I hate to tell you all this, but if left to its own devices, a capitalism concentrates capital (and the wealth that comes from it) in the hands of a very small number of super-rich people. It's the role of the government to mitigate that tendency, and, more importantly, redistribute that wealth through progressive taxation and (yes) government spending.

The free market isn't going to build me new roads, or sewers, or pay for our schools, or keep our bridges from collapsing. Everybody acts like taxes are evil and government spending benefits no one, when it actually benefits the poor and middle class more than anyone. Progressive taxation and government spending created the middle class--haven't you ever wondered why so many capitalist countries have very small numbers of rich and middle class, but a huge percentage of the population lives in poverty? It's because they don't re-distribute wealth.

So get over it. Capitalisms screw the poor and middle class, unless government regulates markets, taxes progressively, and spends on services and infrastructure. We did precisely that for most of the 20th Century---and it was the greatest economic century experienced by any country in the history of mankind.
