DES MOINES, Iowa -- U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said Saturday that the debate over when she knew about CIA waterboarding is just a Republican distraction.

Pelosi was in Des Moines at Hiatt Middle School for a roundtable discussion on education.

Pelosi also told reporters that Republicans are trying to find anything to overshadow President Barack Obama's agenda.

"Our success in the congress is driving republicans to distraction and and that's what this is -- a distraction," Pelosi said. "We are working on good jobs, education and the preservation of the planet."

Iowa Republican Party Chairman Matt Strawn released a statement responding to Pelosi's visit.

"It is surprising Speaker Pelosi would travel to Iowa to promote her liberal agenda," Strawn said. "Even more surprising that she has willing accomplices in Iowa like Congressman (Leonard) Boswell, who votes with her agenda over 98 percent of the time."

It's amazing that neither Pelosi nor Strawn reply with any wort of substance... Prime example of the one party system in amerika.
