I know exactly what you mean. Bill Maher says a lot of good things about the Bush administration and I enjoy watching his show, but there's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way. When I listen to him speak about Bill Clinton, for example, I get the impression that he thinks U.S. foreign policy was going just fine until George W. Bush came along and screwed it all up.

I think I've figured out what Scheuer was saying here. Think of Ron Paul. Yes we all love him, but this movement and campaign is much bigger than Ron Paul. The fact that Ron Paul doesn't poll all that well isn't very important, the important thing is that he has inspired people (us) who are now promoting the idea of liberty. I think Scheuer was saying that something similar has happened with bin Laden.

im all for evening the playing field with Israel. calling someone an antisemite because they disagree with an imperialist nations foreign policy is absolutely ludicrous, and as a general debate policy in the west it MUST end.

Contrary to the belief that it is a desecration of the flag, it is actually a very very patriotic way of saying that the country, or a citizen's life/liberty/property is in distress. If i remember correctly, there was a news rreport a few weeks back about someone with an upside down flag a ron paul sign, and some asswipe neocon called the police to come and tell him to take it down. Of course, it was painted in a negative light, and they of course made sure it was reported that it was a Ron Paul supporter as well. Its funny how ignorant these people can be of the very country they think they are so patriotic about.
