My idea for the commercial and how it turned out are two separate things. But it's the same modified idea.

They should take out the "War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, and Ignorance is Strength" quotes.

I don't think that the majority of people have read 1984 so they won't get the reference. It was also put in there so randomly that it looked like Ron supported an Orwellian Dystopia.

The beginning was OK but I think you should have the "Ron Paul is the Thomas Jefferson of our Day" quote flash on the screen as the camera focuses on those statues. You may also want to note who actually said the "one exception to the gang of 435" quote as it sounds like a pretentious remark created by the campaign. I also don't think that trying to paint him as a party outsider is a good idea- rather it would be better to call him a grand old republican. Try to show this picture of him with Ronald Reagan as he is like a god among republicans.

Nice, but dont include the text from Animal Farm as people may think that's RP's position!

Indeed, I thought that was out of place.

I don't like the "his own party tried to unseat him".

wgadget

And, if you could have the voice over SAY that he's running for President. You know, someone might just think he's running again for congress if they couldn't see that little "for president" at the bottom of the screen.

Agreed, get rid of the 1984 quotes, also did his party REALLY try to unseat him for Congress?

Yes, I believe it's true. Pretty nasty politics, but the Ron came through in the end.

I really like it. Good job.

I agree about the text quotes, I could barely read them in time let alone understand them. If you do take out parts, I suggest replacing them with a nice big picture of Ron Paul looking trustworthy and humane.

I think it does a great job of striking that general chord with people who overwhelmingly have a problem with politicians especially this current crop.

"Gang of 535" has to go.

You talk about the Republican Party trying to unseat him like its one of his accomplishments in congress.

I'm sorry, but these commercials are getting worse and worse.

It's a shame all that money is going to waste.

Perhaps change the Orwellian slogans to

Peace

Free Markets

Constitutional Government

Yea, the Orwellian slogans were s'posed to be CROSSED OUT with a BIG RED 'X' indicating Paul was against those types of "shenanigans."

Now it looks like the opposite.

If I can get these stubborn people to realize the verbal disclaimer doesn't have to be so long... we might be able to add in, "Ron Paul for President" or something like that.

And they still refuse to put in the pictures of Reagan with Paul, despite my assertions that those photos are promotional campaign material and in one case, the property of the U.S. government under the public domain. But they are afraid of doing so for "legal reasons."

Anyway, we'll see if we can't touch it up a bit. :)

What? "They" won't add the image? Who exactly is editing this video? And are /they themselves/ ron paul supporters? Otherwise you may run a bunch of ads that show RP in a bad light...

Yes, they sure did. I live in Texas and I wouldn't have believed it, had I not heard the commercials with my own ears.

If the ad agency's legal team says they can't show the Paul w/ Reagan photo because:

A.) It includes Reagan's signature
B.) We supposedly need his family's permission to use it
C.) It may appear as a false endorsement of Ron Paul
D.) It it copyrighted

then they have the final say.

Please realize running a media campaign isn't just slapping something together and saying, "OK, let's put this on TV!" (Even though people love to think that.)

If that were true, EVERYONE would have their own commercials.

SO there are so many people other than me who determine if we can put that picture on (ad agency, FEC, each and every individual TV station, etc etc). For example, if the TV stations would reject it, the ad agency is protecting their interests and mine. All kinds of people reject commercials for different reasons.

Anyway, like I said, I will talk to them about this, among Many other things, and get this edited.

I don't. I went to ronpaulpictures.com and that site sent me to Flickr. It doesn't look like there is a higher res there, but there should be somewhere.

I REALLY like how it begins... :)

but, like others pointed out...

1. I would definitely remove the Orwellian quotes. I'm not sure what the best thing to replace them with though right this second.
2. I would remove the blurb about his own party trying to unseat him.
3. I'm not sure about this, but instead of saying he doesn't accept corporate money, should we be saying something about lobbyists in general? There are lobbyists for more than corporations and he doesn't bend over for any of them.

Question:
1. Why the reference to keepronfighting.com instead of www.ronpaul2008.com? Are we not allowed to do this or something? By the way, I also think it would be great if we could fit, 1-800-RON-PAUL on there. There are a lot of people out there who do not have internet access. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. ;)

You just right click on them and choose 'save image as'.

Then to get it to appear here on the forum, you can use a free service like www.photobucket.com

Hmm

Right click on the picture and go to properties, and copy its location (that should start with an http:// and end with a .JPG, .GIF, etc)

Then type in the code {IMG}URL here{/IMG} to post it here (replacing {} with brackets []).

Assuming you use windows, this is what I do:

Find picture.

Right click the picture and select properties.

Highlight the address/URL.

Control-C to copy.

Come back here and do a reply.

Click the insert image button above.

Delete the Http:// and Click Control-V to paste in the URL you just copied.

Click Okay.

Dunno. I know it's the number I called about 6 weeks ago to order Slim Jims and bumper stickers. They didn't seem to think I was crazy that I called them. What's more, they sent me what I asked for. :) It is the only phone number I would consider using in an ad. No one would remember just a number.

No, that number is his current 2008 presidential campaign. They're the ones that sent me the Ron Paul bumper stickers.
