Federal tax revenue plunged $138 billion, or 34%, in April vs. a year ago — the biggest April drop since 1981, a study released Tuesday by the American Institute for Economic Research says.

When the economy slumps, so does tax revenue, and this recession has been no different, says Kerry Lynch, senior fellow at the AIER and author of the study. "It illustrates how severe the recession has been."

And of course, the solution to this, say people like Paul Krugman and Obama himself, is MORE SPENDING.

We've gotta help the banks. We've gotta help the states. We've gotta help the autos.

We gotta support our contractors, I mean troops!

But then Obama says we're out of money. What's the solution? Spend spend spend!

No problem, the president B O is going to tack on a VAT tax of up to 30% on all goods and sevices and also double your taxes owed to the IRS. What's a sheep to do?

No need to do that...There's a better option to breaking the "no tax increase" promise Obama made to people who make less than 250k....printing money

Yet they corrected my return and said that they owed me about an extra $200.

Were they trying to buy my vote?

We need like a thermometer of taxes we are wiping out.

Wow, bummer - down 34%

It looks like only the government workers still have jobs these days and therefore they are the only ones paying their taxes!

It's the rest of us who are the useless eaters who are dragging their system down. The IRS needs a bailout from the magic federal reserve printing press! (or thousands of IRS agents will face termination... ) Can't cut back on government now, it's the wrong time. We need more government growth!

Come on! What's a little more inflation among friends? If we don't help them out RIGHT NOW, how do you expect them to extract all those taxes from you in the future? It's just too big to fail...

It's a great thing that the IRS is getting less money. Theft is wrong no matter who does it.

Then, maybe the government should downsize across the board to balance the drop in "income"...
