Well, here we go. I think this has a very high chance of blowing up into something huge.

“The Korean People’s Army will not be bound to the Armistice Agreement any longer,” the official Korean Central News Agency said in a statement today. Any attempt to inspect North Korean vessels will be countered with “prompt and strong military strikes.”

So, which MIC company is organizing this? I'm betting it's a company that builds Ships. The Navy has gotten a lot less funding compared with the Army the last 8 years since our efforts have been focused on ground wars...

Honestly I think it is coming down to the old man having little time left (maybe terminal illness) and has decided to just roll the dice. North Korea is not a chess piece for TPTB.

Personally I think he wants to do some high temp cooking.

Why don't we get out of their fucking business? The last news piece on North Korea had a quote of Obama saying he won't tolerate illegal weapons. If Nuclear weapons are illegal, then we and Russia are the biggest criminals on earth.

Isreal's nuclear program was never approved by anybody.

Agreed... but they won't. This time I think NK will follow through.

... and Israel, India, etc.. etc...

The difference is the US is a peaceful nation and isn't going to invade other countries and occupy them.. ahh.. well..

NK is in a financial crisis, history tells them, build it, and we will pay them to stop

February 13, 2007

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. officials on Tuesday defended the Bush administration's policy shift on North Korea, which coincided with an agreement by Pyongyang to begin to close down its nuclear program.

North Korea now has 60 days to shut down its Yongbyon nuclear complex and readmit nuclear inspectors. In return, it will get 50,000 tons of fuel oil or financial aid of an equal amount.

Once Pyongyang takes additional steps to disable its nuclear program, including taking inventory of its plutonium stockpile, it will qualify for another 950,000 tons of fuel oil or equivalent aid, according to the terms of the deal. The aid package is worth $300 million.

North Korean state media reported that the agreement called only for a "temporary suspension" of Pyongyang's nuclear program, according to wire reports.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice drew a distinction between the first 60-day period, when she said nuclear activities will be suspended, and the later "disablement phase."

lol how often do we allow other countries to inspect our ship? Our arrogance is just hilarious.

Easy solution ...

"Dear N. Korea: Apparently there have been bad feelings. We wish that had not been the case and look forward to better relations in the future. To demonstrate our good wishes for everyone on the Korean peninsula, the US will be leaving. Of course, we would like to extend our hand as a trading partner at any time you would like to reciprocate.

Dear S. Korea: We have enjoyed our close relations with your country and hope they can continue. We will now expect you to assume full responsibilities for your country - including self-defense. We have valued you as a trading partner and hope and expect that to continue.

Dear Japan: We have enjoyed our close relations with your country and hope they can continue. We will now expect you to assume full responsibilities for your country - including self-defense. We have valued you as a trading partner and hope and expect that to continue.

Dear South East Asia: We are willing to sell nuclear technology to anybody will to pay in gold."

If N.Korea is still dead set on nuclear development, we may as well be the ones to profit from them.

Russia should attack immediately. Take out wherever they think the launch pad for a nuke might be. Then a massive ground invasion with a combined force from China, Japan and SK. North Korea has overstepped the mark big time and now military action is the only solution.

North Korea's game has to incite the US, South Korea, or Japan to a first strike. If they strike first they can't gain Chinese support.

One of those nukes could possibly hit LA. This is what happens when you allow a foreign lobby called AIPAC takeover your foreign policy. Imaginary threats get taken care of, while real ones get ignored.

It is actually a very serious situation, and probably most people think the U.S. could do whatever it likes and win, but there might not be any winner in such a scenario.

It's nothing new. This movement has always had an undercurrent of neocon trash. This Ron Paul "revolution" has allied itself with right-wingers and its now reaping the desserts of that idiocy. In addition, the GOP's pandering to "small" government ever since it fell out of power is causing "libertarians" to start to warm up to the Establishment again.

The percentage of neocons on these boards will continue to climb unless you people ditch your sympathies to the GOP and conservatism in general.

Libertarianism has room for minarchists, but not conservatives. Especially not conservatives who advocate war.

I think China should take control of the situation and oust Kim Jong Il. I wouldn't feel safe if North Korea was attached to our continent.

Give me a frickin' break. Ron Paul has referred to himself at times as a conservative. Do you think HE should leave his own movement?

By the way, if you're a libertarian, you're a right-winger too. Since the further right you move on the political spectrum, the less government you have.

Are you classifying anyone that believes in war under any circumstance, as a neocon?

But this is the Ron Paul forums for Ron Paul, a GOP candidate, and not a Libertarian.
