Just because Wikipedia relies on donations (whose inventor is a libertartarian) does not make it collectivist and neither or YouTube or Twittr socialist just because they haven't made a profit. That's a failed business model.

Wow kind of an alarming thread title Matt, I thought I was about to be forced to join the Borg.

Here is a summary quote from the article to give people an idea what its actually about:
While old-school socialism was an arm of the state, digital socialism is socialism without the state. This new brand of socialism currently operates in the realm of culture and economics, rather than government—for now.

So in other words their just awkwardly using the term socialism to describe voluntary social collaboration over the interweb. The author of the article most likely isn't aware of the definition of collectevism versus individualism, voluntary cooperation is quite different from cohercive government socialism. It would no doubt please people who actually support socialism to see this article describe the internet as socialistic.

It describes creative commons as a form of collective ownership, when its simply a way of sharing your e-creations and still take the credit for them? Absence of IP laws is not an attribute of socialism? I get the feeling he considers IP laws to be an inherent part of capitalism, but their not. I just scanned through but this article seems completely fragged when it comes to its definitions of key terms.
