- Flight Surgeon during Vietnam War
- Graduate from Duke Medical School
- Delivered 4,000 infants
- Ran a 9.8 second 100 yard dash

Yet despite these achievements, he is extremely humble.

That he is the only man (who got mainstream media attention) to seek the Presidency in recent years for the purpose of reducing the power of the office. That he has proven over the years to be completely incorruptable.

Married with the same woman for over 50 years!

In my world, that is a huge accomplishment. I have doubts I can pull that off.

The 9.8 second 100 meter dash is pretty damn amazing. He was no slouch in other events too, if I remember correctly.

Even at 73 he could probably beat most of Congress in a foot race.

The current men's world record of 9.69 s is held by Usain Bolt

Yeah, that is "pretty damn amazing." :cool: Granted, he was probably timed with a stop watch and not with electronic timing... still :cool:

Yards != Meters...

Yards != Meters...

This is true when comparing 100 meter dash times vs. 100 yard dash times. Please note, however, that the yard measured races that were run in the U.S. up until about 15 years ago were nearly equal distances in many cases to their metric counterparts. The 220 yd. dash is almost identical to the 200 meter dash, so RP's 220 yd. dash is comparable to a 200m (in fact I think the 220 yd dash is actually a wee bit farther than 200 meters).

Also, the former 440 yd. dash is nearly the same as the 400 meter run. The 880 yd (2 laps) is nearly identical to the 800 meter run. We get out of sync again with the 1 mile run vs. the 1500 meter run (the "metric mile") which is shorter than a mile. The world record for 1500 meters usually is about 18 seconds or so faster than the mile record. I don't know why the Europeans chose 1500 meters. If they would have simply made the race 4 laps around their 400 meter track, it would have been 1600 meters, and very close to one mile.

I believe this is quite literally true. I'll bet very few adults could beat RP over about 50 meters. There's probably a few members of Congress that are in their late thirties or early 40's that might still be pretty athletic. But I'm guessing.

Yes, this is amazing. Do you remember the debate in Florida when he said we should practice diplomacy with Cuba? He knew he was going to get boo'd and said it anyway. :cool:
