From my understanding here are some points on general event promotion:

The optimal frequency of hitting a potential attendee with an ad impression is 6 times over various forms of media.

The 3 goals are to:
-Inform of the event
-Motivate to attend the event
-Remind to attend the event

For a normal music concert $4-$6 per person should be spent on advertising. 60% of that should be on radio. Our situation is a bit different obviously.

Regarding flyers, the headline should be 1/3 of the space. The "attention getter"/illustration should take up the next 3rd, and the final 3rd of the flyer should be the details/body text.
