This shows that more work needs to be focused on older age groups. One of the tougher issues with reaching out to many of the older generations (I fit in the 30-41 age group) is that as the age increases, fewer use the Internet as a resource with which to do research. More outreach specifically focusing on these particular age groups will be vital going forward.

Excellent poll in my opinion just for the generational breakdown (even if this was strictly a landline-based poll like the others).

Looking at the percentages they are clearly calling a ton of more elderly than anyone else.

It is interesting that Sam Brownback is polling the same (10%) among that age group. I wonder what the demographics are like for this poll.

Seniors vote at a much higher rate than other groups -- young people at much lower rate. Polls are weighted to reflect this.

Was this a national "scientific" phone poll??

We need to focus in on the 61+ bracket big time. Not only are they more likely to vote generally, but RP's message will appeal to them in a way that it doesn't necessarily appeal to the boomers. People 61+ grew up hearing stories of the Great Depression, and in some cases living through it. As such, they are more likely to be attracted to RP's fiscal policy. They have also seen increased regulation of just about everything-- and, again, are likely to be excited to case a vote against big government.

Both of my parents are voting for Ron Paul. My mom (67) is online all the time, and has a huge email ring that supports Ron Paul. She doesn't get called by pollsters, either, because she has dial-up internet....

The conventional wisdom is that young people don't turn out to vote, but I have a feeling that Ron Paul is going to change all that in a big way in the primaries....

Proven over and over, the young crowd does NOT vote. This could change in 2008. Will it?

TO CLARIFY! I'm not saying my age group will be voting in large numbers... just that portion of my age group which is for Ron Paul. :)

That shows us that we need to start being more traditional in our approach and target over 30 voters.

I'm not sure what we can learn from this poll. It was an online poll taken from those who volunteered to be polled by Harris. That means it means very little. It was not random.
