Over at the American Spectator, James W. Antle has a column echoing my views that the Old Right conservatism of Ron Paul offers a way out for the national Republican Party.
"A potential way out is to appeal to the center with style and the Right with substance. Ron Paul was able to win liberal esteem despite opposing abortion and holding views about government that made Barry Goldwater look like Nelson Rockefeller. Perhaps a more mainstream figure with greater credibility among Republicans could do better."
Meanwhile over at Takimag, Jack Hunter weighs in with a similar perspective: "A growing number of Republicans now seem willing to join Paul, not just to tweak big government or diddle with marginal tax rates, but to attack the root problem of spending and even heart of the U.S. monetary system, the Federal Reserve."

only problem is, that at this point, most of the "old guard" of the party would rather take the proverbial suicide pill than go the way of Ron Paul. hope we can change that, somehow!
