But I thought we we're broke.
Hmm, I guess the economy really is an illusion.

Nah.
People like me will be dead.

Interestingly, it doesn't appear to be an American car. The front end very closely resembles an Acura TSX. One of Ford's life lines these days is municipal vehicles like the Crown Victoria. Doing away with American cars for police departments would probably be the ultimate death of American car manufacturing.

Most of the cops I've run in to wouldn't know how to run that thing if their life, or job in this case, depended on it.

That piece was careful not to state the name of the manufacturer.

The Japanese appear to be targetting the police car market now.

I thought it was supposed to say "To Protect and to Serve" on the side, not "To Punish and to Enslave".

The economy doesnt matter as long as you have the power to write tickets, you can afford any supercar.

I didn't see the doughnut holder.

I had the exact same thought.

Well okay. I had a suprisingly similar thought, but with my own Neurons.

Here in Pennsylvania, the State Police are running out of money and are stretched thin. Guess how they adjusted? Cut investigations... put more officers out to watch for traffic violations. In the past few weeks since I saw the report, I have seen a dramatic increase in the number of troopers watching for speeders and the number of people pulled over. They've now gotten to the point of just sustaining their bureaucracy.

Hmm, I guess the economy really is an illusion.

GA governor wants to "stimulate economy" by spending lots of money on these car toys. He should see how Bush' 'spend and stimulate' plan worked out.

I think the federal government is taking our money and using it to militarize the police forces.

I think what they are doing is very quietly building on the Acura chassis, similar to how Roush and Shelby and others build on Ford platforms. That front end is just waaaaaay to close to the TSX/TL/RL line, plus the specs are very similar. I don't buy that Carbon Motors is building an entirely brand new car from the ground up.

That plate reader technology is already in use. I don't know about some of the other ones. Doesn't look like such a super police car to me. The one technology that is scary is when the police cars can shoot something like an electric missile and E.M.P a fleeing car. I totally forget where I read about that.

So, it's custom built with a three liter turbodiesel and they expect to compete with the Charger in a very price-competitive market? A market in which the Big Three have traditionally lost money just for the volume and the opportunity to impress leadfooted civilian customers? Good luck to them, they'll need it!

Yea, thats what I was thinking as well. How is this supposed to improve the lives of civilians, who are the ones footing the bills? Thats right, it doesn't. Its just one more way for the blood suckers to feed their bureaucracy.

10,000 jobs is HUGE! - Chambliss

Yeah, huge. About 460,000 people lost jobs just in June.

Yay for advancing the police state.
