So apparently about 36 children have died as a result of violence in Chicago. In this video there is a young boy who's brother was shot and killed. While I feel very sorry for his loss and grief, I just felt sick when it turned into this:

@3:23 he said, "I want to become president because I want to take guns off the street and save lives" He then imitates Barack Obama by reciting one of his speeches (you know, "Hope," "Change," etc.). "I had to learn that speech because I want to be President just like Barack Obama."

And apparently "They're fighting for stricter gun control" 5:18

Watch the full "report" on Saturday night @ 10pm EST.

Now, I don't want to be an asshole and dog on a kid. But it just IRRITATES me to no end how young kids are
1) brainwashed into thinking that somehow being President is the #1 goal in life, 2) That somehow President = GUN CONTROL? "Ya I want to become president cause I want to control guns." THAT'S NOT WHAT THE PRESIDENT DOES AT ALL! WTF? and
3) That he idolizes Barack Obama so much just because he's our first black President.

am I an asshole? Should I not get upset by kids like this, I mean he did lose his brother, who am I to talk right?

After watching this this morning I switched the channel to MSNBC, only to hear how "people's car purchases (after buying from dealers who are closing) are safe because the government has their back." or something like that (you know, "we'll pay your mortgages" type deal.)

perhaps I should watch tv in the morning. I'll just get cranky.

I want to become the leader of a brutal gang of thugs (president) so I can take freedom away....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Chicago have one of the most restrictive gun policies in the entire country? All that wonderful preexisting "gun control" didn't seem to help much, did it? So what makes them think that we need even more, and that the present draconian regulations just don't go far enough?! :D

Gun control only keeps guns from law abiding citizens, the criminals will always have guns.

When I was a child I was a little socialist. Now that I've grown up and see the reality of the world, unfortunately a lot people don't.

I wish government gun control worked, it just doesn't.

Unfortunately, the young boy in mourning is hearing only one side of the story. He has nothing against which to balance his thoughts and feelings.

Even though it obviously was a criminal who killed his brother, he does not understand that laws restricting gun ownership is not the answer, but part of the problem. Had some law abiding gun carrier been in the right place at the right time, perhaps his brother would still be alive. Since the police only arrive after the fact, it is not likely they can help but rarely.

Too bad he likely will never hear the other side.

perhaps I should watch tv in the morning. I'll just get cranky. What I don't get is this - I don't doubt the kid's sincerity and feel for his loss, I'm talking about those feeding him his ideas - those guns "on the street" are already there illegally. How will making the guns that are not on the street, but in the hands of law abiding people illegal have any impact at all on the "guns on the street." The thing is, I think the pushers for this stuff actually know this and don't care. They know that guns laws do not make us safer and in fact puts many of us at greater risk, so what are their real motives? I think they just hate guns in principle and want them not to exist. Since they can't make them not exist they do what to them is the next best thing - take guns away from people who are not criminals.

You know what is baffling too. Anyone with any familiarity with gun laws knows that these laws all have their roots in racism and the intention to disarm blacks and other minorities and make them even more defenseless and vulnerable. And yet, somehow, they pretend they are doing inner city blacks a favor by compelling those who are law abiding to disarm, making them even more vulnerable to the criminal class. It's sickening and infuriating.

he's just a kid, lighten up...one day he'll grow up & starting forming ideas of his own. right now he's just impressionable & can't fully grasp how things work

Perhaps so.
But he can use his emotion to influence others to buy gun control.
All they have to do is have some gun control group to call him up to make a commercial having him tell his story. They would make it all emotional with sad music in the backround and have it in black and white.

He can influence regular uninformed people.

And that's dangerous.

who's blaming the kid? I'm blaming society as a whole. the kid just represents it, that they are brainwashed at the early age of 10 to think all of this crap.

Forgive the poor kid's knee jerk reaction to the loss.
