First, try to map a person’s EEG patterns to his or her individual words. Then, see if those patterns are generalizable — if everyone has similar patterns. Last, “construct a fieldable pre-prototype that would decode the signal and transmit over a limited range.”

Don't worry...your government just wants to help you.

Darpa funds all kinds of really on the edge projects.

On a similar, but different tangent from September, 2008: Homeland Security Detects Terrorist Threats by Reading Your Mind (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,426485,00.html)

This shit is scary. If leaders can control people's minds... Well, I don't need to tell you what that would entail. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2008/08/the-dia-looks-i/

And what's this shit about them scanning people's minds before they get on a plane. Maybe it would stop terrorists, but they could also use to to stop just about anyone they want for "malintent." Anybody here ever seen Minority Report?

Just think if they want a division to make a suicidal push and soldiers are refusing. Push of a button and they have those poor kids running to their deaths. Or how about if they refuse to fire on women and children or American citizens. Damn... this is just nuts.

Telepathy would be pretty cool, controlling the unwilling is going into territory we shouldn't be.

Right now I'm thinking really hard about flipping someone the bird.
