It's certainly not inevitable but i'd say it's pretty dam likely if we don't settle down a bit.

So you don't think there's a remote possibility of Russia launching 1 of it's 20,000 nukes, at some point in the future?

no... but we should be glad we have the bombs... to use in space, as needed to offset asteriod collisions... but to do so, will require a global effort.

Eventually, maybe not in our life time, and maybe not nuclear considering technology will advance, but as long as we have governments and people I'm afraid it's inevitable.
