He sure had a lot of mental problems. The poor soldiers he killed and their families are the ones I really feel for. What a shame.

My speculation FWIW, if the guy was a SGT (E-5), he probably reached the max time at that rank before he had to be promoted or leave the service. Notice the point of the article about being processed to leave active duty. With less than 20 years of active duty (he has 15), he would not qualify for retirement.

That could have pushed him over the edge - you take the risk and get no benefit - that would annoy most people.

Not hard to believe, I watched 3 guys try to kill themselves in basic and watched another 2 go completely insane resulting in their being shipped off to BAS never to be seen again.

I was expecting a rash of mental breakdowns after Obama had promised a 2500-5000 per month troop draw down in Iraq before the Election, only to flip on that and not have any troops out until "maybe" next year. Remember all those happy kids in cammies getting their pictures taken with the anointed one? They sold their vote for a promise.
