H.R. 808 would have established "a Department of Peace and Nonviolence."

This nonsense had 70 cosponsors too.

At this point, I'm starting to think Ron Paul said to Kucinich: "Dennis, I know we're friends, but we disagree steeply politically and I ask you please do NOT cosponsor my bill to audit the Federal Reserve, H.R. 1207. You'll drive probably thirty current conservative republican cosponsors away with your kookiness. And if I hear one more word about UFOs...."

The Department of Peace and Non-violence is a proposed cabinet-level department of the executive branch of the U.S. government. Founding father Benjamin Rush proposed a Peace Department for the first U.S. cabinet, under George Washington, but a more recent proposal came from Rep. Dennis Kucinich in 2001 and formed a part of Kucinich's Presidential campaign platform in 2004 and 2008.

Hey, there could be worse departments ;)

Just re-read 1984. There was a Ministry of Peace. "Peace is War, War is Peace."

Why don't they just incorporate the ADL into this and expand their power...?

I see there's plenty of co-sponsors for Kucinich's Bill who are on the House Financial Services Committee. But they haven't co-sponsor the AUDIT the FED bill.

Love the hypocrisy of Congress

It may not be hypocrisy, just self-interest. If they audit the fed, where will they find the "money" to create these departments?

That is exactly what I thought of. Sounds like a colossal waste of money, and is blatantly un-Constitutional.

Hey Kucinich, our question is: "Who are you working for?"

It's disappointing when I see people say things like, "Paul/Kucinich 2012!" Ugh.

I respect Rep. Kucinich in that I believe he is at least trying to do the right thing. He's trying to help people. But nevertheless, he is a socialist. I simply could not vote for a ticket with Rep. Kucinich on it.
