However, now that we know the antivirals are working, yes the news hype is no longer warranted and is now just being used for ratings.

This doesn't mean that this virus or another H4N1 strain of this virus will not mutate in the future and be immune or extremely resistant to antivirals.

The potential threat from a virus unaffected by antivirals is not something to be taken lightly and if you don't have time to write a paper on this topic, I believe the documentary linked above does a decent job of portraying the overall seriousness.
