I was in Michigan the other day and saw a U.N flagged Deuce And a Half military truck filling up at the station.

Is this something we are seeing more and more of now?

I mean, are these people here for some reason?

When I see foreign military in the United States, it makes me wonder if there is some kind of trouble planned or am I just being paranoid?

pic?

There are a few important bases in MI, I've seen some huge choppers only a couple hundred feet above the freeway, transporting between bases or on a training run. I've only ever seen USA marked vehicles, though.

Yeah, I trust you and all; but that's one of those things I'll have to see to believe. Next time pick up the cellphone and snap a pic or 3

Bad enough to see our own military operating within our borders. To see another military operating here, be it multinational or not, makes me wonder why we even have a 'defense agency'.

Yeah, pics are good. Toob it or it didn't happen.

Hmmm. Disturbing to say the least. However, the vehicle being on a flatbed could very well be coming from a manufacturing plant and heading overseas. I do not see any signs of wear on the vehicle, and (I'm not saying that it is) it could simply have come out of a manufacturer heading for the train station to be shipped to the UK.

Actually seeing a UN vehicle fueling would be a LOT more disturbing, as there is no way it could be in transit overseas. Seeing the same being driven by a uniformed soldier from another country would the clincher.

Well, it was around 11:00 in the evening and I had just pulled off of I-69 to fill up myself. It had the blue flag and U.N. on the doors.

I don't have a camera phone so I couldn't get any pics.

Try to get that blue helmet in the shot!

LOL, my worry there is, trying to take a picture of this could get one shot. Or at the very least on a bad bad list.

Probably safer that way. If the UN really is starting 'training' operations in CONUS to such a degree that they may be refueling at an American gas station without a US Army escort; then I surely would not want to be seen taking pictures of it.

Did you see the driver? All jokes aside, I don't expect 'blue helmets' but rather whatever soft covers those services ordinarily wear.

Also, up in....did you say Michigan? There may be crossover traffic from Canada, who is a UN member.

It's also POSSIBLE that the vehicle was UN-marked but driven by US personnel as a par of UN efforts on the part of our own military.

LOTS of possibilities, most of them unpleasant, a couple of them innocent.

Did you happen to see the driver? Was he in uniform? US or other?

Not trying to interrogate, but this is disturbing and I want to get to the root...

The soft cover is the baby blue beret, Gunny. If I ever see one you damn well better believe I will approach, photograph and ask questions. Sprechen zie? Se habla?

They were wearing sort of a charcoal gray uniform and wearing blue hats and had white arm bands. I couldn't see what was on the arm bands because I was too far away. They were at the diesel pump and I was getting gasoline. When they left, they were in a big hurry and left a big black smoke cloud as they floored it.

So what? It was probably a US military vehicle painted in UN colors to be sent over to some UN mission that the US takes part in. Or it came back from a mission and hasn`t been repainted jet.

There is no UN mission in the US, or you could read about it on their website.

Well obviously enough it is US military vehicle, being transported. What is that in the background, a container? So it is going to end in a container to be shipped overseas.

Hey, I am just reporting what I saw. I never saw one of these in my travels and it kinda struck me as odd. I was in the military back in the late '60s and never saw anybody in a uniform like these guys were wearing.

And another question, if any know the answer....Does the U.S. Army have Exxon(or Shell etc.) fleet cards or what? Just wondering as I was on a ship.
