any fellow forum members quit regular cigarettes and switch to electronic cigarettes?

I hear the FDA may ban them tomorrow.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker for over 15yrs and was able to quit overnight thanks to the e-cigarette.

It pisses me off that they are stealing another liberty.
I mean really i can choose to buy and smoke tar and 4000+ other chemicals in regular cigarettes but when i finally can quit and immediatly eliminate the carcinogens they talk about banning? WTF?

i think it's more socialist BS , they are worried were will they get there $1.01 federal tax PER PACK + texas state tax of $1.41

anyone else have any comments?

Didn't the FDA just make them completely illegal? :(

The government doesn't actually want you to quit smoking.

You have to fall somewhere between the tax-paying addicts and the people using that worthless patch or gum shit whose suppliers have the politicians in their good graces (meaning, bankroll accounts).

Is it really working for you, tones? I have been trying to quit cigs for a few years now. I tried to do what the other poster said: convince myself I hate the taste and smell. Especially when I would exercise and smell the nicotine coming out of my pores.

I decided the way for me to go was to stop smoking cigarettes and smoke something different. So I switched to smoking Black & Milds. I light up a Black and puff it until I don't want anymore. Then I put it down and it will go out. When I want to smoke again I just pick it up, re-light it and smoke.

The bad thing is I'm still a smoker. The good thing is when I exercise I don't reek of cigarettes anymore. Black & Milds smell better than cigarettes and taste better too. And even tough I still smoke Blacks, I get disgusted when I smell cigarettes. It's weird. :(

At the very least, I have won my battle against regular piss smelling cigarettes. I no longer crave them nor like them. I'm just looking for a way to kick my new Black habbit and would like to hear more opinions about the e-cig. :)

I don't smoke tobacco but I know several people who tried to quit many times until eventually having success with Chantix, a prescription medication. It might be worth considering.

I'm surprised the FDA can find time to ban e-cigarettes, what with their usual workload of denying life-saving treatments to terminally ill patients.

I can't see where they are banned. Everyone is still selling them.

I think I read that Chantix has been recalled because ots caused some issues.

Anyways, this pisses me off. I don't smoke but my dad does. We recently have found out about these e-cigs and they sound like a great solution to his needs. It would give him the nicotine (which I have not found many major health issue of alone) He would get the physical habitual action of smoking, What he would NOT be getting is Tar, and other carcinogen which already have his arteries clogged. He is thinking about trying these, and would switch even. however if the FDA gets rid of them because the tobacco companies rather you smoke the real thing and spend thousands on medical issues that is just crap.

Maybe he'll learn to construct a proper paragraph and some sentence structure as well.

His/her posts hurt my eyes worse than a Wall O'Text.

Ban-Hammer strikes again.:D

Good move editing mosheh’s mission. Quitting an addiction is irrelevant to the topic.

Elec cigs not only improve smokers’ health, but also provide a solution to smoking-bans. Since there is no “smoke”, it’s not banned. Since there’s no ignition temps, it’s not smoke. Instead, it’s “vapor” / “steam”. It’s less toxic to the "smoker"; but also to the second-hand breather, but for a second reason: there is less exhaust exhaled into the room – most of the vapor stays in the lungs of the "smoker".

And if I get the love of my life to use them will his hands stop smelling like a dirty ash tray when he comes in from an outdoor smoke session? :)

Mrs. AF has one of these, and there is no visible or olfactory "second hand" discharge at all.

Has anyone received their e-cig yet who ordered it right before the so called ban? I'm still waiting for mine, it seems to be stuck in Chicago which was it's first stop from Canada, starting to get worried I won't get it. I made a post about it in off-topic with the tracking info.

PaulaGem, I don’t think there is any tobacco odor at all in an elec cig.

Kraig, I believe these gadgets are pretty easy to make at home. I think they use some of the latest RC-plane/battery technology. I think I saw a forum where people were discussing their homemade elec cigs. I didn’t read much of it, but hopefully they address where to get pure nicotine. If all fails, I’ve heard tobacco tea can be put into a nasal-spray bottle and inhaled similar to elec-cig vapor (through the mouth, not the nose [it burns the nose]).

Every American juror has a Constitutional right to acquit all defendants of “consensual crimes” based on nothing more than a disagreement with the law, no matter the evidence - despite the judge's false instructions to the contrary. There is no legal obligation to vote "guilty" to arrive at a unanimous verdict, but there are many good reasons to vote “not guilty”. So do your patriotic duty and preserve individual liberty at the same time by getting on a jury, standing your ground against intimidating judges and “bully jurors”, fulfilling the jury’s original purpose (to counteract big abusive government), and stop convicting non-violent people of non-crimes. IT ONLY TAKES ONE JUROR!
