EDIT: Rep. Gerlach is on the House Financial Services Committee, so getting him as a cosponsor is key to getting HR 1207 out of committee

Rep. Jim Gerlach is a Republican House member in Montgomery County just outside Philadelphia.

So far he has failed to cosponsor HR 1207.

As of today, his Outreach Coordinator is being bombarded with emails by C4L members and Ron Paul MeetUp members in the Philly area.

It would be great if those on this forum could email this staffer who speaks with Congressman Gerlach daily.

Since you will most likely not live in Gerlach's district, just sign the email with your name and no address or phone number and let it be assumed you are in his district.

Scott Savett
> Montgomery County Outreach Coordinator
> Office of Congressman Jim Gerlach
> Work #: 610-409-2780
> Email: Scott.Savett@mail.house.gov

Thanks! And feel free to forward this post to other like minded people....

EDIT AGAIN:

Savett is apparently asking for addresses.

If you want to get real sneaky, go to www.zillow.com, and type in one of the following zip codes: 19072, 19096, or 19003.

You just need to type in the zip code, then zoom into to any street. Click on a house and use that address, or better yet, change the house number a little.

If it says 18 Rose Lane, Bryn Mawr, PA- email Savett will the 16 Rose Lane, Bryn Mawr, PA (obviously don't use that one).

Thanks. Gerlach has been a tough nut to crack so we are pulling out all stops.

Appreciate everyone's help. Just sign your name to your email asking Jim Gerlach to cosponsor HR 1207. No address or phone number so Savett does not know it is from outside Gerlach's district.

I agree, but the Reps don't have direct email addresses available and this guy Savett has just about daily contact with Rep Gerlach to tell him what is going on in the county that makes up most of his district.

What Philly area MeetUps are doing in emails is to say to contact BOTH Gerlach and Savett.

And why is Gerlach so key? Because he is on the House Financial Services Committee.

Getting Gerlach to cosponsor will help get HR 1207 out of committee, which is the big hurdle.

So please email Savett per the above and also contact Gerlach.

Is there any list of congressional aides' email addresses? I know theres no way to directly email a congressman, but is there any way we can get in touch with their offices by email, or is it only possible by phone/post/in person?

The aides don't even like to give out their email addresses. No list. I got the above through contacts, and it is key again as Gerlach is on the House Financial Services Committee.

Please politely email Savett per the email address above and just sign your name with no address or phone number and let him assume you are from Gerlach's district.

Yeah I wasn't getting my hopes up on there being a list. Maybe someone could compile one and post it somewhere here.

I'll email this guy later today and send a fax to each of Gerlach's offices.

They are not trying to thwart our effort, when any congressman gets a call on a house resolution there is a standard form to fill out, on it is the callers address. Give them your true address, it's ok.

I sent him an email saying if I had to put up with Sarbanes Oxley every hour as a computer programmer for a retail store then the Fed should have to put up with one audit.

Also, here is some good info. Don't send any email to congressman from their listed email on their websites. I've been told all those emails are first sent to washington before they ever end up to the congressman's office (the dept of homeland security I'm sure). So call them.

Ask for the aides email. They will be glad to give it, otherwise your email will get shuffled through the system and routed through washington first. I suggest calling anyway, they'll just want to know which house resolution your calling about, whether or not you want the congressman to support it, and your address. They say thanks.

Good thoughts, but I have found aides (especially higher up ones) are loathe to give out their emails, but if you hound them politely they will.

Contact info for Gerlach as a reminder regarding cosponsor of HR 1207 - Federal Reserve Transparency Act. Remember, he is on the House Financial Services Committee and he is a Republican who has yet to cosponsor ands he can help get this bill out of committee.

Since we are emailing his Montgomery County Outreach Coordinator (Montgomery County is most of Gerlach's district) who has daily contact with Gerlach, I suggest calling and faxing his Motngomery County office, but hitting them all up will help.

Also, Scott Savett is asking for your address. If you want to get real sneaky, go to www.zillow.com, and type in one of the following zip codes: 19072, 19096, or 19003.

Subject: Urgent: HR 1207 Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009

Dear Scott Savett,

Please pass this email along to Rep. Gerlach.

I am a concerned political activist and citizen of Ardmore. I recently graduated from Temple University with an Electrical Engineering degree and have been unable to find a job so far. Usually EE graduates have no trouble with job placement, but the economic downturn has been causing me trouble.

I firmly believe the policies of the Federal Reserve System have greatly contributed to, if not straight out caused, the current recession. Did you know that the Federal Reserve has never been fully audited once in the close to 100 years that it has existed? It is vital that congress and the American people have full information on the actions of the Federal Reserve.

There currently is a bill sitting in Rep. Gerlach's committee that would Audit the Federal Reserve. This bill is HR1207 The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009. It was introduced by Rep Paul (R) from Texas, and has over 120 cosponsors. It is very important that Rep. Gerlach quickly joins this growing list of cosponsors and works to get the bill out of committee. Surely Rep. Gerlach doesn't want to be known as the "guy who promotes secrecy in government" among his constituents.

Thanks for your time in this very important matter,

Thanks so much! We gotta get Gerlach since he is on the House Financial Services Committee. There are a lot of Democrats in his district, and even though he is a Republican, the word I get is he is worried about alienating Democrats by supporting this bill.

That in itself is disgraceful, but don't say that in any communication with Savett or Gerlach. Just tout HR 1207 and ask Jim Gerlach to cosponsor.
