I like Chomsky's diagnosis most of the time, the problem is often with his solutions. Kucinich has proven that the left at times can be a trustworthy companion in the fight against unnecessary wars and that is where I agree with Chomsky here.

I guess chomsky is all about tyranny of the majority

Don't you see that is exactly what I am talking about, attacking his broad platform instead of getting together on what we agree on, anti-war stance...etc. We have to start forming a coalition on some of these issues otherwise its not going to get any better.

Managing to find common ground with people you would not normally ally with, is always a good strategy.

It works when having political debates/discussions with people as well. Managing to find something that you agree with another person on, will bring down their defenses and render them more willing to hear you out when you happen to disagree.

That's quite a change from saying he'd support Hillary Clinton over Ron Paul

3) Would you support Ron Paul, if he was the Republican presidential candidate, and Hilary Clinton was his Democratic opponent?

Noam Chomsky: No.

what does chomsky say about tyranny of the majority?
Most socialist don't mind if people's wealth is taken by majority vote.

Chomsky doesn't believe in Private Property Rights. He is good on wars of aggression, but that is about it. Other than that, he's no ally of mine.

Chomsky also has done good work on pointing out the corruption of the media, the political world, and big business all becoming a giant and ugly knot. His solutions are sometimes different, but in others they coincide.

That link critiquing chomsky was horrible too. All it was is, "YOU are a front and distracter if you don't come out steadfast against what we believe is a New World Order."

It also attacked him for having mainstream positions different than us. Fair enough, although except for conspiracy theories it didn't really go that far and was quite shallow and almost like a pundit.

C. Wright Mills was talking about those things way before chomsky. Chomsky probably is a student of C. Wright Mills.

This is a great film because it shows how the media manufactures the consent of large populations to go to war or whatever it is "they" are trying to do. I would say they use it to promote their socialist agenda, but Chomsky probably doesn't go into that.

Chomsky is a douche.

If you had a democratic society, you'd look at it the other way around. You'd say, "great it's April 15th, we're all going to contribute to impliment the plans that we jointly decided on for the benefit of all of us"

That's fine with me if it's voluntary, have all the feel go notions you want while paying your taxes Chomsky, but I should be able to opt out if I disagree with the "jointly decided" plans "for the benefit of all of us" such as the drug wars, military wars, imprisoning of non-violent victimless 'criminals' and paying interest to the Federal Reserve as they give out my money to failing companies.

Common ground can be explored, but I think the ideological difference between your typical Chomsky fan and the followers of Mises will quickly reveal itself.

Im all for meeting people where they can be met, but Chomsky is right for all the wrong reasons, if you watch the video, he spends all the time talking about how we distrust government when in a democracy, government is GREAT!

Well, Im sorry, 51% representative democracy is failing us, so I sincerely doubt that 51% direct democracy is much better. Lets talk about 75% or 95% democracy, with very strict limitations on what the group can do, and Noam and I may find some common ground. Until then, hes just another fucking communist.

I think on the hard left there are a lot better people than Chomsky. I`d explore cooperation with them, and Chomsky can tag along for the ride if he wants to. No biggie if he doesn`t want to though.

I'm all for reaching out to Bill Maher and others on subjects we agree on... Don't know about this guy, how would working with him benefit us?

I watched this about a year ago and it was entertaining, have a look.
There's one where Buckley threatened to punch Chomsky in the nose.

Chomsky pwned the hell out of him. I never heard Buckley speak before. He speaks in a way that makes him sound learned, like an aristocrat or a literary critic, but jeez are the words coming out of his mouth dumb. The man was a dumass.
