Massachusetts house voted to increase our sales tax from 5 percent to 6.25.

Boston Globe (www.boston.com) has a vote on whether or not it is a good idea. Please go tell them how many people think this is dumb.

Here is the article on it:
http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2009/04/28/house_oks_hike_in_mass_sales_tax/

And the survey link is here, but I already took the survey so the link may not work:

Man do these people anger me.

Keep it coming, Feds...tax revolts in the near future.

Just be sure to get a permit from the very same government you hate before you organize. All these protests and rallies are stupid. If you want change you have to get out and stop the every day flow of life. Fill the streets and block traffic.

I hate to say it but rioting is what gets attention. You don't need to destroy property but stand up to the police state when they come out as you block the streets.

We all need to amass and dress in riot gear like they do.

The people do not need permission to exercise a right. More and more people are beginning to understand this fact.

I wasn't talking "public protests" as we know them today; I was talking tax revolts.

People are getting angry and desperate. The tea parties were only the start; they got shot down by the media and the establishment and laughed at. The American people are going to start shouting louder, and every time they are ignored or derided, they will get more angry and more desperate. The government and media are making peaceful revolution impossible, with an inevitable outcome.

Obama getting cap-and-trade passed, with an attendant massive rise in utility costs, will only accelerate this process.

Y'all got it easy. Sales tax is 8.5% here in WA.

We don't have income tax though, Mass does. Income tax is a hell of a lot more expensive than sales tax too. As a non business owner, I can tolerate taxes in WA. Don't know how bad the B&O tax is though.

Ugh but where I'm moving has high taxes, so that'll suck, but you gotta do what you gotta do for ideal climate.

Heck I hope Mass raises its taxes to 100% so that we may finally get a revolt there.

Not bad, it was 7.25 and the City raised it to 8.25%, then the State raised it to 9.25%
Businesses are fleeing California in droves. Unemployment in my county is 16.2%. Democrats don't get it.
ANd we have a income tax at the State level too.

If the sheeple want this, oh well. It is libertarians job simply to point out and educate.. No riots, no protests needed. People of Mass choose these leaders, enjoy. When they start voting smart, that is when change will occur.

California Now has country's highest SALES and STATE INCOME taxes

Such fools to throw 20+% of your hard worked labor to a state full of thieving, gilded government. Many California state workers are making more than the private sector with a primo retirement plan. That's not all... the state deducts, Short and Long Term Disability Insurance, and other taxes. Can you say, "FLEECED to the BONE!"

Nevada = 0% Income Tax :D

So buy a cheap condo/townhouse in NV and change your residency! But don't bring any socialistic ideologies. Damn Ex-Californians in the Vegas Metro Area are starting to inflict that garbage.

At 8.25% base, California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California) has the highest state sales tax, which can total up to 10.25% with local sales tax included.Sales and use taxes in the state of California are collected by a publicly elected tax commission. The statewide 8.25% is allocated as:

8.25% - State

5.00% - State - General Fund
0.25% - State - Fiscal Recovery Fund
0.50% - State - Local Revenue Fund
0.50% - State - Local Public Safety Fund
1.00% - Uniform Local Tax (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley-Burns_Uniform_Local_Tax_Law)

0.25% - Local County - Transportation funds
0.75% - Local City/County - Operational funds

On April 1, 2009 the state sales and use tax increased by 1% as a result of the 2008-2009 California budget crisis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008-2009_California_budget_crisis). The minimum sales tax statewide will be 8.25%.

Bullshit.
