FDR (a disastrous pres) got reelected. What makes the authors of the OP article think people are any smarter now?:eek:

First, they aren't talking about reelection, they're talking about the next new face. And secondly, the voters are just smart enough to know that the Democratic Party will unquestionably stick Biden up there (assuming Obama gets reelected and therefore runs into his term limit), and also just smart enough to reject him.

And if Obama doesn't get reelected? You think most people answering that poll expect a third party win?

IIRC, FDR was so popular they had to initiate Presidential term limits to keep him from being elected in perpetuity.

Actually, death was the only thing that prevented that. But, yes, those were a reaction to his incredible popularity and the sheer amount of power he had accumulated.

And a damned good thing, too, considering how senile Reagan got.
