" If all Americans want is security, they can go to prison. They'll have enough to eat, a bed and a roof over their heads. But if an American wants to preserve his dignity and his equality as a human being, he must not bow his neck to any dictatorial government."
-Pres. Dwight Eisenhower

"My chest just hurts and I have shortness of breath. My ears were hurting me earlier but they are okay now. My head is still in and out," Noel Alexandria said.

Cowlesy,

Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601085&sid=atHtXtCigRII&refer=europe)

The World Health Organization is set to declare the deadly swine flu virus outbreak in Mexico and the U.S. a global concern, potentially prompting travel restrictions, said a person familiar with the matter.

An emergency committee of the WHO in Geneva will declare the outbreak “a public health event of international concern” in a 4 p.m. teleconference today, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting is confidential. In response, WHO Director-General Margaret Chan may raise the level of pandemic alert, which could lead to travel restrictions aimed at curbing the disease’s spread.

Anyone think this might be a consequence of over vaccinating every year?

I've never had a flu shot, and never had the flu ;).

Supposedly the military base that the tests samples were released from, the virus stolen was H1N1 influenza... AND, they have frozen bodies from the spanish flu epidemic on this base...

Ah, the creeping paranoia sets in on Cowlesy.;)

Seriously, keep your head down and stay healthy.

I had a serious bout of bronchitis in November which I attribute to stress and the weather, but two weeks ago I got incredibly sick. High fever, coughing, sore throat, dizziness, head throbbing; you name it. Where I work, a lot of the employees travel back and forth to Mexico.

I have to admit I was almost relieved to at least see these reports. If that's the stuff I had (I'm just getting over it now) I'll be likely at least part immune to it, no? :P Yay I'm the key to saving the world!

Not to freak you out, but that is also a symptom of heart attack...

I never had a flu shot until I after I had a true Influenza (not the more mild annual variety). Once you've had a real one (the kind that kills people), you don't want to get it again.

You look at it like, I have had plenty of colds and flus, miserable, but no big deal. Take a standard flu and multiply it by 5. That's more what it's like. And you will understand how people can die from it. Took a couple of months to fully get over. After the main part of the flu was over, I would literally come home and go to sleep at 7pm every day, for over a month. It really knocks you down.

You guys are rubbing off on me too much!

And now tonight, guess who is "working to create the vaccine". Good old Baxter International!

Of course, these are the same ones that had been mixing flu viruses earlier this year and accidentally sending them out *oopsy daisy*.

Hmmm... I'll bring a few decks of cards! Euchre all day every day. It will be like Heaven.

Luckily, most schools (which aren't already) are finishing up for the year right about now.

Probably ought to reconsider using "public" airplanes to travel.

Road trip!

If anything, it may be a good time to load up some supplies and test your survival skills in the wilderness.
