Just now. Not sure if this is good or bad....

Mischaracterized initially by the reporter (I'm sure this is misspelled - Jevani something or other). And of course, the anchor is the despicable Alexis Glick - though she gets points for not being as horrible as she normally is when this story was discussed.

Jevani said Ron Paul has introduced legislation to END THE FED.

Intentional mischaracterization IMO, designed to try and scare the masses, since 1207 is NOT an "end the fed" bill it is an AUDIT THE FED bill. I do believe that the reporter corrected herself on the difference later in the piece. I cannot say for sure because I was yelling at the television. :o

Should there be any response from us at all?

Should someone let CFL know about the piece?

I dunno, but I sure feel like we oughta stop our clamoring to End the Fed until we get THIS bill passed to Audit the Fed. Else, we may shoot ourselves in the foot.

It was expected, at least they acknowledged it's there.

Sure, but we'd better not mix the two together, or we may scare people off. There are some people who would be behind auditing the FED, who would not be for Ending the fed. If we mix the two together, we may very well just have lost BOTH of the efforts.

The End the Fed rallies should DEFINITELY only promote AUDITING the Fed. You don't feed your baby a steak; you shouldn't try to convince Americans to end the Fed.

Once you start auditing the FED the dirt that will come out will eventually lead to 'End the Fed'. :D

Technically correct. Ron Paul has introduced a bill to end the fed. It's HR 833 (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-833).

I'm not a fan of "End the Fed" rallies promoting HR 1207 as it is the wrong way to market HR 1207 to folks who would otherwise be receptive to supporting more transparency.

I agree..baby steps. I've started a push to call Allen Boyd, our rep. this morning..I called, my mother and daughter also called ..to support HR 1207. tones (sent an email blast)

If there is any way you can stop by his local office, that would be even better.

Tones, even if you aren't planning to hand out a single flyer - create one, print a few copies off, stick the printed ones on top of a stack of blank paper, take it with you when go to his office, and give a copy to his staff with the comment that you will be papering the district with it.

I live in a neoconnish area so I did not mention Dr. Paul or CFL on mine. I did use something like, "we the people have the right to know who Ben Bernanke gave our tax dollars to!"

Since the more neoconnish are pisssed about the bailouts, that seemed to work quite well around here.

My Rep, Marcy Kaptur finally came on board yesterday. She is the first Rep from OHto cosponsor, which surprises me. Where is Dennis Kucinich? I would have thought he would be backing this bill also. Boehner is bought and paid for. He will not sign on unless he is getting something out of it.

HR 866 is a bill RP introduced to abolish the federal reserve. So the reporter wasn't wrong

While I think that advocating an audit of the Federal Reserve is a more effective strategy than putting a lot of resources in ending the Fed, it's not like it's a bad idea to suggest ending the fed.

People are cosponsoring this bill even though they know that Ron Paul also advocates abolishing the Fed. In fact, even if you can just barely convince someone that ending the fed is an idea worth some consideration or with some validity, they are more likely to "compromise" by saying "well, i'm not sure we should go so far as to end it, though I can see why you want to do that, but I would be willing to support an audit."

Don't intentionally hide the goal of ending the fed (but like I said it might be more effective to spend your time advocating an audit), for the same reason that Ron Paul doesn't hide the fact that he wants the IRS abolished. If you don't stake out long term, substantive goals, you end up like these lame-ass Republicans and Democrats who get stuck in minor details and claim victories that involve absolutely no significant change in public policy.
