Police need a warrant to search cars during a traffic stop.

Medical Marijuana shops will no longer be raided.

marijuana shops are still being raided.

the warrant thing is a court decision and really hasn't stopped the harrassments people are getting and will continue to get and can't be attributed to Obama being in office.

Sorry. no party for obama.

Don't be so pessimistic. These are positive things. I don't care if they are coincidental or not.

one if them is coincidental. the warrant thing.
One if them is a lie. Obama's administration said- We aren't going to raid these marijuana facilities... and then a week later, the DEA did it again.
Where have you been?

Are you telling me that a government agency can make its own decisions? Some one will get into trouble and the new policy needs to be followed.

its not a policy. the DEA takes its orders from the pres.
Either Obama in inept, or the policy hasn't changed.
My evidence that the policy hasn't changed is the fact that after the raid... organizations like change.org norml etc we furious, obama then has a town hall meeting where he explains he doesn't believe having legal marijuana is the direction the country needs to go.
We have threads on it. Geez, I wish I could easily find them for you.
Let me see what search brings up.

I will add one good thing that has happened, but not intentionally.

Obama has moved so quickly towards one world socialism, the direction we were creeping towards anyway, that it has awakened a lot of previously sleeping people and motviated them to action. Yes, often misguided action or for the wrong reason, but I would rather deal with an education issue than a motivation issue.

Lots of recruiting opportunites out there peeps.

One of the promises kept:

The Promise:

Very Bad News: Afghanistan's Bagram Air Base Will Be Obama's Guantanamo (http://www.alternet.org/rights/128273/)

The Afghan air base is to undergo a $60 million expansion, allowing it to hold five times as many prisoners as remain at Gitmo.

Less than a month after signing an executive order to close the Guantanamo Bay prison camp, President Barack Obama has quietly agreed to keep denying the right to trial to hundreds more terror suspects held at a makeshift camp in Afghanistan that human rights lawyers have dubbed "Obama's Guantanamo."

Obama to Support Bagram Expansion (http://www.neverinournames.com/diary/2817/)

In a two-sentence filing late Friday, the Justice Department said that the new administration had reviewed its position in a case brought by prisoners at the United States Air Force base at Bagram, just north of the Afghan capital. The Obama team determined that the Bush policy was correct: such prisoners cannot sue for their release.

Afghanistan: $60M Bagram Prison Expansion Nearing Completion (http://www.stratfor.com/sitrep/20090220_afghanistan_60m_bagram_prison_expansion_n earing_completion)

A $60 million expansion that will nearly double the size of the U.S. military prison at Bagram air base in Afghanistan is nearing completion, Al Jazeera reported Feb. 20. More than 600 prisoners, which the United States has classified as enemy combatants, currently are held at the prison. U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates was expected to issue a statement Feb. 20 that “refines” Washington’s position on use of Bagram and similar facilities, including Guantanamo Bay. Gates and U.S. Attorney-General Eric Holder have been conducting a review of the prisons to determine the fate of detainees.

Bagram torture and prisoner abuse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagram_torture_and_prisoner_abuse)

What happened at Abu Ghraib was no aberration, but part of a widespread pattern. It showed the tragic impact of the initial decision by Mr. Bush and his top advisers that they were not going to follow the Geneva Conventions, or indeed American law, for prisoners taken in antiterrorist operations.

The investigative file on Bagram, obtained by The Times, showed that the mistreatment of prisoners was routine: shackling them to the ceilings of their cells, depriving them of sleep, kicking and hitting them, sexually humiliating them and threatening them with guard dogs -- the very same behavior later repeated in Iraq.

Somebody already addressed this, but it bears repeating.

Gitmo, the facility, may close (even that's not a sure thing) but the jailing of people without any clear reason why will continue.
