Hi guys!

This week's show topics are (a) DHS and FBI reports on right-wing extremism, and (b) DoJ torture memos. Confirmed guests are Ron Paul, Lew Rockwell and of course, the Judge will be hosting. (Should have updated list tomorrow)

The Judge will be asking your questions and reading your reactions throughout the show, so post them here: http://bit.ly/18LmE6 between now and Wednesday morning.

In most cases, we'll take the questions/comments with the most votes, but if someone submits a really spectacular question at the last minute, we reserve the right to use it ;)

POST QUESTIONS & VOTE HERE TODAY:
http://bit.ly/18LmE6

I'll be taking live reactions/questions via Twitter (send your tweets to "@shellyroche") during the show to be read at the end of the show.

Please spread the word so we get some great questions for the show!

Thanks for all the support :)

Shelly

I would love for the Judge, Dr. Paul, and Peter to cover the topic "Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports". (The second set of books, kept by the government.)

Government's True Wealth Shown, by Walter Burien: Walter Burien - Arizona Breakfast Club - April 28th 2001 - CAFR (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2487376232580261614&hl=en)
(Support for Ron Paul, mentioned at end of video - 2001.)

How about the Judge asking Bob Schulz (We The People (http://www.wethepeoplefoundation.org/)) to join the show?

G. Edward Griffin?

No guarantees about them picking our topics or guests, but I think if we show enough support for certain ideas/people, they'll consider it.

Now, what to do with you non-tweeters??

Shelly,

I'd love to know what Judge Napolitano believes is the constitutionality of wire-tapping Congresswoman Jane Harman who was holding conversations about quid-pro-quos with a suspected israeli spy.

I recall hearing other Israeli spy stories over the last couple of years... is this all tied to the same incident and just coming our because Bush and Co. is out of office?

I sent in the question:

How can 'we the people' get a fair and thorough investigation of this matter if the indicted is apart of the government and the investigative body is apart of the government?

That site doesn't allow enough space to ask my question, so I'll post it here:

Is the DHS setting the stage for Congresswoman Jane Harmon's odious Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (http://www.dsieve.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12) to be re-introduced?

(yes, the same Jane Harmon mentioned in the wire tapping story).

edit: I managed to submit it after torturing the title/question:

How do we convince misguided left-leaning civil libertarians that our principles are in direct contradiction with neoconservative ideals made popular over the last 40 years?

Edit: I refuse to use Twitter. It's character limitations are are an attack on the English language and an attempt to replace it with a dumbed down version of "Newspeak." ;-)

Anyone considered inviting a Statist or Keynesian on for a small segment? Get a lively debate going rather than just have everyone nodding in agreement.

I'd love to see Krugman vs Schiff. Or Eric Holder vs The Judge. Not that you can land those guys, but perhaps their minions. The freedom message shines brighter when set against shackles and chains.

Oh, shoot - I moved a few things into the General forum from the Topic-specific forum, but I probably should have just left them where they were. You can find it here:

IMO, ~70% of the "questions" for the upcoming show on DHS and FBI reports on right-wing extremism, and DoJ torture memos should be moved to the show ideas forum. I don't think folks are quite understanding what your asking for here.

Also, Washington, Oregon and Idaho C4L members would really love for him to come to our regional conference in Seattle the third week of May!

Why don't they have a debate section during upcoming shows. The first time they do it they could invite on either mainstream liberal Democrats who support Obama, yet have beat the civil-liberties drum in the past, OR invite on some left-libertarians like Chomsky, Nader or other people who claim to support personal Liberty on one hand, and the state on another. Pit them against Rockwell, or Tom Woods - or better yet, allow Napolitano to take on them all!

So, where would people submit stuff on facebook to make it show up in my stream? Can they tag it with #freedomwatch or something?

Also, what FF extension do you recommend? I'll totally do that if I can get it set up and let people know what to do.

Thanks!!!

Yeah, I know. My fancy organizational method didn't seem to work so well ;)

Also, we're talking about the topics, since there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest for the DoJ torture memos... What do you think?

I think that most people don't truly understand why the DHS story is important. I asked the question about Harmon's Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 because I've been monitoring the issue for a while and I can connect the dots. I'm convinced that the right wing and (earlier) left wing radicalization reports stem directly from Harmon's 2007 bill. Basically, the DHS is in training for it to become law IMO (hence why I'd like to hear what the Judge et. al. think about the prospects of it being reintroduced).

...
Homeland Security spokeswoman Sara Kuban, meanwhile, told the paper that the report is part of a series designed to "facilitate a greater understanding of the phenomenon of violent radicalization in the U.S."
...

DHS Report Warns Of Right Wing Extremists (http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/04/14/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry4944701.shtml)

Discussion of the Harmon bill offers a natural segue into the discussion of wiretapping and the recent leak of her conversation with a suspected Israeli intelligence agent.

I'm a bit concerned as to the motivations of the NSA in leaking this. On the one hand, I'm no fan of Harmon or her disregard for civil liberty. On the other, I'm concerned about the media using this as an arguement as to why wiretapping is necessary.

~~~
I have not personally read the DoJ torture memos or been following coverage of the story, so I don't have any comments on that. I think it's something that's been somewhat beaten to death already (hence the lack of outrage). I think most folks know that torture was used and abused.
oh never mind. (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showpost.php?p=2088564&postcount=43) Looks like this was a court authorized NSA wiretap on a suspected foreign intelligence agent.
Hey there everyone... I just thought I would ask you all to click on the "guest suggestions" link above and vote for Gary Johnson, who is the person I suggested they have on the show. We're always talking about how we want to hear / see more of him, and what better way to get an idea of what he's like than to see him alongside Napolitano, Schiff, Rockwell, and Paul? Let's see if he can hold his own with the likes of them!
EDIT: And I see that Shelly has posted something saying the guest lineup has been decided for tomorrow, but I assume they'll still be looking at this for future reference? So vote anyway! :)
Beck is going to be on the show. We should ask him how economic and personal liberties are different. we give up personal liberties because of the war on the broad word terrorism.
and ask him what he thinks and how this quote by Benjamin Franklin relates to our country and the Washington policy. "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
