In a major breakthrough for our Liberty movement, Ron Paul's bill H.R. 1207 to Audit the Fed has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services.. That's a HUGE step forward. Most bills begin by being considered by one or several congressional committees which may "report" the bill favorably or unfavorably to the Senate or House as a whole allowing it to receive consideration by the full body and move forward.

We need to influence the House Financial Services Committee to give a favorable report on H.R. 1207

There are 71 members of the House Financial Services Committee with Barney Frank as Chair. Please go to this link and PLEASE contact these members encouraging them to Support H.R. 1207. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/committee.xpd?id=HSBA

Let's focus first on the members of the House Financial Services Committee.

After you do that, if you want to PRAISE and APPLAUD those Representatives who have Co-Sponsored the HR 1207. There are 55 co-sponsors as of 4/18/09 You can contact them through this link: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-1207

NOW is the time to bring all of our efforts to bear on the situation. If we can get the bill out of Committee with a favorable report it will go to the House floor for a vote! Please copy and paste this Action Alert to fellow Americans asking them to contact the Members of the House Financial Services Committee right away! http://www.govtrack.us/congress/committee.xpd?id=HSBA

Here is a video to better understand the importance transparency and H.R. 1207 YouTube - Ron Paul HR 1207 Audit Federal Reserve - Earmarks!!!!! 3/10/2009 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK2XsKLiQ2Q&feature=PlayList&p=53550A98A71E30B7&index=10)

Draft a simple email and let them know we want transparency and their favorable support of H.R. 1207 to Audit the Fed and. Send an email and/or call each of the members on the committee right away! http://www.govtrack.us/congress/committee.xpd?id=HSBA

Most bills never come out of committee. We need 218 signatures to skip the committee.

Hasn't it been in committee since February? Somebody correct me, but it has always been my belief that once a bill is filed and read in the House or Senate, it is automatically assigned to some committee....where bills usually sit around and die while the special interests push for their bills to be heard.

sorry to burst your bubble, but being referred to committee doesn't mean anything.
HR 833 (end the fed) is there too.
what we need is for barney frank to agree to hold hearings on it.

I really would like to see the people Ron Paul is speaking to. For some reason I just imagine them ignoring him. If they listened maybe then we would have enough signatures.

Yes and yes, all bills are automatically referred to (at least one) committee when they are introduced. This is no "major breakthrough."

To follow the progress on any bill, go to THOMAS:
http://thomas.loc.gov/

H.R.1207
