You know the small icon that appears next to the web address and in your bookmarks? Right now libertyforest.com does not have one, and ronpaulfoums.com has the default vbulletin one.

I made this one quickly and would like your thoughts. Also feel free to make your own contribution and maybe the admins might install it.

ANIMATED: http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1764/animatedfavicon1.gif
NON ANIMATED: http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/3415/faviconb.gif

I've got the required .ico versions if needed.

--- A. Installing the favicon with animation ---

1. Upload favicon.ico and animated_favicon1.gif to the root of your web folder.

2. Add the following HTML code to your web page, in between <head> and </head> tags:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" >
<link rel="icon" type="image/gif" href="animated_favicon1.gif" >

--- B. Installing the favicon without animation ---

1. Upload favicon.ico to the root of your web folder.

2. Add the following HTML code to your web page, in between <head> and </head> tags:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" >

+1 (though I prefer it non-animated)

This idea is not necessarily new, but ignored by the Mossad-loving Admin.

Don't make me break out the image of Bryan burninating Ron Paul again.

Cool, thanks!

I added it.

If you go to www.ronpaulforums.com/favicon.ico and press shift+f5 then it should show up.

Click here: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/favicon.ico

Press shift+f5 on your keyboard at the same time.

Your browser is probably caching the old favicon.

If shift + r doesn't work, ctrl + r should.

Hmm, the ones you posted have transparent backgrounds, but it's not transparent on the site.

Cool
I like that. It's a small thing but anything that brings a smile is welcome. :D

The favicon works on ronpaulforums.com, but not for libertyforest.com

Oh yea... LF is just a forward.

I'm not sure what to do to make it work for the forwarded domain.

The ones posted don't have transparent backgrounds.

You need to adjust your monitor it sounds like. ;) :p :D

It looks like you are using frames to forward LF to RPF, so I think you need to have it in your LF frameset header as well to make it work.

//not a real web developer so I may be wrong

Also, to make it I edited the forum header image to this file (http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/294/libertyforestlogo1.png). Then I went to this website (http://www.chami.com/html-kit/services/favicon/) that automatically creates various favicons out of a generic source image. So if you use the png image I just linked to at that site you can customize the background transparency, etc to your liking.

That's pretty cool, on several levels.
