In Columbia, Sanford makes some very good points on the Charleston Liberty Tree and printing money, but boy oh boy, it's gonna drive some people nutz with his history lesson on the great seal. ;)

Unfortunately I missed his and DeMint's speech at the Charleston event because I got off work later than I planned. But there was quite a few good speeches about paper money, the Federal Reserve, and to my surprise, praise for none other than Grover Cleveland; the looks on some people's faces were priceless. :D

Here's a pic from the local news of the Charleston Event:

It was a helluva showing. I didn't really expect that many people would be there. It seemed just about every issue RP pushed in his campaign was represented in the signs displayed except for one, and unfortunately, we all know which one that was; interventionist foreign policy. :( There were anti-Fed, IMF, tax supported abortion, IRS, etc signs everywhere being held by it seemed very passionate people. I ran into a guy passing out 912project cards and we discussed some issues agreeing on most everything EXCEPT foreign policy. But other than that we agreed to disagree. Ran into many people that say they really like RP and think he's right on with domestic policies and some even conceded that the foriegn policy will end if "we don't get our act together". Sometimes, I think that many proclaimed conservatives wants to limit the scope of domestic programs just so they can put more effort into the foreign wars program. Oh well, it was great on all other fronts with no overt "Dem's are evil, Repubs are godlike" rhetoric.

I'm glad it happened. Now we'll see if it really has any lasting effect in the lives and thinking of those that voluntarily attended on their own time. ;)

Not One More Penny
From Mark Sanford
Dear Friends,

Today was not only meaningful for the fact that it was Tax Day, but indeed even more important for the fact that many of the quiet majority of Americans who stand with liberty over government made their voices heard loud and clear.

This majority is gathering at hundreds of Taxpayer Tea Parties across the nation to push back against some in Washington D.C.'s plan to increase debt, increase taxes and increase government involvement in our daily lives.

This majority is rallying in the spirit of the Founding Fathers - reflecting in spirit and word our revolutionary ancestors in a fledgling but vibrant America - and calling us back to the core principles of freedom and hard work that have made us the envy of the world.

And this majority is speaking common sense to a nation in dire need of it, calling attention to the dangerous tipping point we find ourselves in with regard to government over-spending, debt and the value of the American dollar.

I joined over a thousand this afternoon at the Statehouse in Columbia, and will join many more tonight in Charleston, to say "not a penny more!" Not a penny more of our tax dollars to big banks, big auto companies or big government until they reform their ways.

Click here (http://www.youtube.com/GovernorSanford) to watch the video of today's Columbia Tea Party, and then forward this message to your friends and family. Real change begins in the hearts and minds of people who are willing to stand for liberty, and against an ever-encroaching government. Today's gatherings are a wake-up call, and it's our responsibility to make certain that call is heard, both here in Columbia and in Washington D.C.

Thank you for your time, and for your continued efforts in fighting the good fight.

Take care,
Mark
