Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad should be handed "an indictment under the Genocide Convention" if he's allowed to appear at the United Nations next week, not invited to speak to the General Assembly, Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney said in a letter to U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon today.

Ahmadinejad has been granted a visa by the State Department so that he can take part in next week's opening of the General Assembly.

But Romney says that because Ahmadinejad and his government have "spoken openly about wiping Israel off the map ... fueled Hezbollah's terror campaign in the region and around the world and defied the world community in its pursuit of nuclear weapons," the Iranian leader should not address U.N.
