"Ron Paul Asks: How Many Americans Have to Die so the Neo-Cons Can Save Face?

Huckabee answers Ron Paul's question: It doesn’t matter.

For those of you that watched the rigged, biased, deplorably hosted debate on Fox News on September 5, 2007, you saw a bunch of men on stage engaged in fantasy by insinuating that the Iraq war can have a happy end to it by golly, no matter how many deaths of other people’s children we have to lose. The one catch: we have to stay there until pigs fly, and Iraq miraculously puts itself right again and we can leave claiming victory. Only Ron Paul seemed to grasp reality and understand that at this point Iraq is Humpty Dumpty and no matter how many horses and kings men we sacrifice, the country will never be put back together again.

Mike Huckabee got into a heated exchange with Ron Paul over the issue saying that no matter what it took we must leave Iraq with honor. Translated that means with honor for the Neo-cons so they can be proven right. John McCain seemed to have the same position. Well I have a question for you sirs…what if that goal is unattainable? We have been there for five years. We were told it would take five weeks. It is costing us trillions of dollars. We were told it wouldn’t cost a cent, it would all be paid for with oil revenues. How many times do you think we are going to fall for it? The entire stage seemed to be filled with one man after another dedicated to sacrificing our over-worked and over-used soldiers to continue this war until we achieve “victory” – no matter what that means. It seems to mean that our soldiers will not be leaving Iraq anytime this decade and a draft will be necessary and imminent.

Ron Paul was the only man with enough sense to say that if we made a mistake then you don’t compound it by staying until every last person is dead, you leave, you get out, you own up to the fact that this is not working. What did they expect with a war against a battle tactic anyway? War on terrorism…it would be a joke if they weren’t serious about it. Why not just call it a war against really angry people and see how far you get with that. You can never win a war against a battle tactic. Why do you think they named it that?

The vast majority of Americans do not want a never ending presence in Iraq. They want this war and the killing and the maiming and the psychological ruin to end. Moreover, let’s not forget that this war is completely illegal and was never declared by Congress. That fact seemed to be ignored by everyone but Ron Paul. Makes you wonder what other parts of the Constitution they don’t mind ignoring.

Rudy Giuliani brought up his record of being a mayor so many times I was sure he was getting a plug from Monster.com. He seemed to be hawking resume’s more than any kind of national policy or plan for the country.

As for the rest of the debate, the candidates acted like children and snickered whenever Ron Paul, who is leading all of them in straw polls across the country, spoke. They were so disrespectful I wanted to call a time out and send them to a corner. Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney were clearly heard outright laughing at Ron Paul every chance they got. Well I have news for you gentlemen, that is no way for a head of state to behave. You showed every bit of class you have: none. What does that show the rest of the world? That the Republicans can’t muster the manners of any decent six year old? To heck with it, I will say it: Rudy, Mitt, go sit in the corner and take a time out and don’t come back until you have learned how to act with respect.

And a special shout out to Chris Wallace: how dare you Sir? You call yourself a news man? Your blatant bias was despicable, your demeanor demeaning and overall you conducted yourself like a neo-con puppet. How dare you call yourself a newsman? Oh, that’s right. That title doesn’t mean anything anymore. News casters no longer have any integrity or the need to tell the truth. The first question asked of Ron Paul was based on an un-researched misquote that was obviously designed to take up time from the answer for Ron Paul to correct the questioner. Meanwhile, that first meaningful question did not come until 34 minutes into the debate. Let’s see if I can do math…8 people on stage, one minute per question each, how many times do the other candidates get to answer questions before Ron Paul is asked even one?

Then Mr. Wallace had the nerve to ask this repulsive, compound, question that had so many false premises it was hard to know where to start: “Congressman Paul Congressman Paul, your position on the war is pretty simple: Get out. What about, though, trying to minimize the bloodbath that would certainly occur if we pull out in a hurry? What about protecting the thousands of Iraqis who have staked their lives in backing the U.S.? And would you leave troops in the region to take out any al Qaeda camps that are developed after we leave?”

Ron Paul answered back with truth and rightfully attacked the ridiculous premises:

The people who say there will be a bloodbath are the ones who said it would be a cakewalk, it would be slam dunk, and that it would be paid for by oil. Why believe them? They've been wrong on everything they've said. Why not ask the people -- (interrupted by cheers) -- why not ask the people who advise not to go into the region and into the war? The war has not gone well one bit.

Yes, I would leave, I would leave completely. Why leave the troops in the region? The fact that we had troops in Saudi Arabia was one of the three reasons given for the attack on 9/11. So why leave them in the region? They don't want our troops on the Arabian Peninsula. We have no need for our national security to have troops on the Arabian Peninsula, and going into Iraq and Afghanistan and threatening Iran is the worst thing we can do for our national security.

I am less safe, the American people are less safe for this. It's the policy that is wrong. Tactical movements and shifting troops around and taking in 30 more and reducing by five, totally irrelevant. We need a new foreign policy that said we ought to mind our own business, bring our troops home, defend this country, defend -- (bell sounds) -- our borders –

If you thought you had seen the lengths to which Mr. Wallace would go to twist the facts, you were about to be disappointed. Mr. Wallace then dove to depths a National Enquirer reporter would not sink and followed up by asking: “So, Congressman Paul, and I'd like you to take 30 seconds to answer this, you're basically saying that we should take our marching orders from al Qaeda? If they want us off the Arabian Peninsula, we should leave?” At which point the stage of contenders burst out laughing.

In a shining moment Ron Paul angrily shook his finger at Mr. Wallace and shouted NO!!! (To a burst of cheers and applause) “I'm saying I'm saying we should take our marching orders from our Constitution. We should not go to war , we should not go to war without a declaration. We should not go to war when it's an aggressive war. This is an aggressive invasion. We've committed the invasion of this war, and it's illegal under international law. That's where I take my marching orders, not from any enemy.”

You tell him Dr. Paul. It is bad enough when the candidates attack each other, but when the moderators have the nerve to lie about quotes, ask loaded questions and then do their best to humiliate a person with the most despicable follow up question I have ever seen, it is time to speak up. I say, shame on you Mr. Wallace. Whose tool are you? How could you state that drivel and still sleep at night?

As for Mr. Hannity and Mr. Colmes, they are either the two stupidest men in the newsroom or they are outright liars. After the debate, Fox news asked people to text an answer as to who won the debate. If you voted twice you received a reply “You have alredy voted on tonight’s debate. Thank you for your participation, as you can see here, in this screen shot. Nonetheless, Mr. Hannity was heard to remark that Ron Paul’s ass whooping of the other candidates could only have come at the hands of 3% of the people who couldn’t stop dialing. That is a bald-faced lie. Not only was it technologically impossible, but there is no question that Hannity knew it. It was a comment designed to mislead and trick the people watching the show. He even muttered under his breath: “here we go again” in a derogatory fashion as the polls once again showed that Americans thought Ron Paul won. In fact, Ron Paul stole the debate with 33% of the vote with the next closest competitor not getting half that much support. Instead of reporting on the news, Hannity chose to ridicule his entire audience, showing disrespect for every person who voted, lying by insinuating that the votes for Ron Paul were not “real” and tampering with the election of the President of the United States by fooling people into believing that Ron Paul had not won their poll fair and honestly. Alan Colmes was not better, laughing at the results as well in an attempt to discredit the results.

Face it. Americans are sick of the sham. We are tired of being lied to. We see an honest man and we respond, no matter how many times you try to talk us out of it. It seemed tonight that all of the other candidates were laughable and out of step with the country. They showed that they have nothing to offer but more of the same mess we have been in for five years. They pushed the exact same platform that lost them control of the House in the election. They pulled out the tired old lie that either you are with the administration and for the war or you are on the side of the terrorists so many times, they must have had it tattooed on the inside of their hands. Don’t you people get it? We are not that gullible anymore. We know the war was a sham. We know the reasons for going were a sham. We know you never want to leave. And we are against the war and against the terrorists!

The shame of it is that all this posturing is costing the American people a chance to hear one of the greatest statesmen of all time. Ron Paul is the man for the people: The man who doesn’t care if the Neo-cons save face for their war based on lies. Ron Paul says it is time to end the lies, support the troops and get them back home. Ron Paul has some real changes to make for this country: Changes that will take the power out of the hands of the so very few and redistribute it among the rest of us. He wants to save public education but get rid of the Department of Education so that parents and not politicians can set the curriculum at schools. He wants to get rid of the Department of Homeland security because it is creating havoc with our civil liberties, making a mess of our airports, costing us an unbelievable amount of money and not making us any safer at all. Prior to 9/11 they had all the information gathered they needed. We do not another billion dollar agency to get more information that will be ignored, and develop data bases on each one of us. All of this spending is sending this country into bankruptcy, but these guys don’t care. They will have taken their loot and left office before it all falls apart. The only question they have is how much can they steal from you before they leave office.

Dr. Paul wants all that to change. He wants to protect you. Protect your money, your savings and your children’s lives. He gets a lot of flak for wanting to end the IRS, mainly from people who do not understand that the Income Tax is only one of hundreds of taxes and tariffs you pay to the government every day. To eliminate the need for the Income Tax we only have to return to the budget we had back in the year 2000. Just a few cuts in spending and you can take home your whole paycheck. So the question is, do you want to continue an unwinnable war, because it was designed to be never ending, or do you want to bring the troops home, stop the killing and keep every dime you earned this week? Ron Paul is your only chance if you like the last option. If you voted to keep killing, keep spending, and sending more of your hard earned money to Washington every week, then you have plenty of choices.

Go learn about Ron Paul and his policies from the Ron Paul File on www.LewRockwell.com or www.RonPaullibrary.org This is your one chance in history to change your fate. And boy, are the fat cats who own networks, large corporations, and who are getting billions in bribes, (excuse me, gifts from lobbyists) are trying to take it away from you. Not sure if you realize it, but you are the golden goose. You are the people the folks in Washington need to fleece to keep the money flowing into their pockets. You can be sheep or you can stand up for yourself. You have no voice in politics right now, but you could… Elect Ron Paul to stand up for you! He has been doing it for twenty years. He voted against the Iraq war, he has the best record in voting against tax increases, he voted against the Patriot Act, he votes against every attempt to regulate the Internet. He is so unpopular with lobbyists they won’t even talk to him. He won’t even accept his own Congressional pension. You have one chance in your lifetime to get a man who is on your side. Don’t let them steal him from you too.

I suppose if this is a duplicate it will get moved, but I searched and couldn't find it anywhere: http://www.gambling911.com/Ron-Paul-091707.html

I do apologize if this has already been posted here.

I gave it a more descriptive title and moved it to official news since it's about Dr. Paul himself and now one of us grassroots supporters.

But this is not news about the official campaign. And that obscure topic has no viewers. So you just wanted to kill the thread?

I gather what the forum controllers wanted was this forum to be for discussion on outside links dealing with Ron Paul. This thread is a link to a news story about Ron Paul so it belongs here. If you want to "talk" about anything else, not related to a news story, then it goes in the grassroots area I guess.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Deserves it's own topic imo.

Bradley, I have no problem with you moving a thread amongst different topics, if you feel that it is more suitable in another location.

I take issue with you changing content (such as changing title) though, if the title is not one of the following, I think it should be moderator hands off:

Product or Porn Spam
Criminal Threat

Freedom of Speech and all that :)

--
Suppose I had a blue car and parked it in the middle of the road for whatever reason.
The cops come and move it to the side of the road.

NO PROBLEM.

Suppose the cops then paint the car yellow, because they don't like blue cars.

I THINK THAT IS A PROBLEM.

:)
